I attended my best friends wedding last September and was blown away by Xen Live's production, that we booked them for my sister's wedding this past January! Working with Xen Live was effortless. I emailed them and Jay ( the owner of XL) got back to me the same day. The consultation was thorough. I told him we wanted music from the 60's 70's and 90's. When we arrived at the venue to do some last final touches, XL was already set up and ready to go! Phew! One less thing we had to worry about on the special day. We had a few songs specifically requested by my sister (to be played at specific moments) Jay was right on queue and didn't miss a beat! Thank you So much XL for making my sister's day so special! We'll be seeing you this fall!
Alvin Smithson is a very gifted classically trained musician. Accomplished in all aspects of piano performance and instruction. He is a leader in the theater community and composer of solo piano and orchestral music in contemporary and classical styles. A very genuine and sincere person, willing to dialogue on music topics with everyone at any level. Alvin is also an expert on tuning and maintenance of pianos. You cannot find anyone more knowledgeable, careful, and trustworthy to tune your piano. His rates are very reasonable. 5 Stars!
Peter provided a fabulous band, The Rockits, for a huge birthday party! They played great dance party music and didn't charge a ridiculous amount. Terrific tunes and energy from everyone in the band. Really made the party fun! I will contact him for any entertainment needs I have in the future for sure.
Billy is a very talented musician.
Kevin Jones has done incredible work with our ten-year old. Our son has only been taking lessons for four months, but he has already surpassed what the school orchestra is working on. Mr. Jones is really easy to reach if you need to cancel or reschedule, and uses an easy, pay-on-line system. Mr. Jones is so very mellow, and when my boy gets frustrated, he is amazing at bringing my son back to task. Lastly, imagine an accomplished, professional cellist playing duets with your child in your living room . . . It will bring tears to your eyes. Amy O'Donnell
I have hired musicians for over 25 years for different events. Mark was one of the most talented, professional, gracious and kindest person I have met. He played for a group of 60. The reviews from our guests were unlike anyone we have had in the past. We will certainly have him back in the near future. I highly recommend him to anyone looking for a harpist.
I couldn't have been happier to have David play at my wedding! Nothing but good things to say about my experience with him. He was so easy to communicate with leading up to my event and was more than happy to accommodate anything I needed. I can't say how many people have given compliments on how much they loved listening to him perform. He is extremely talented and has an amazing voice. Not to mention very kind and professional. I would hands down recommend him to anyone who is looking to hire a musician. We didn't get a chance to see him because he played our ceremony and cocktail hour, but we plan to go see him perform as soon as we can!!
Janet Greene was my son’s private lessons teacher for almost ten years. She worked with him as a 4th grader until after graduation. His love for his viola and music is in large part due to her passion for music and her gentle guidance to the nuances of music and playing. She also encouraged him to practice every day and we have fond memories of him walking around the house every evening playing his instrument. She often found other venues for him play which gave him confidence in his ability to play in front of others. I believe that one reason he is still playing his instrument in college is the love for music she helped him develop. I highly recommend her as an instructor, tutor and person!
Jonathan was wonderful. Originally, we discussed having Jonathan play during our wedding ceremony, but we asked him to play for our cocktail reception instead. He was incredibly flexible and easy-going. He made the whole experience a joy. He was professional and our guests raved about him at our reception. I would highly recommend hiring him to other individuals seeking a professional guitarist for their event.
Great performance! Will definitely hire again.
We hired Kaitlin, the violinist to play during our ceremony. It was a small wedding / short ceremony so we didn't need the quartet. I didn't get to really experience Kaitlin's performance because I was busy getting married, but there were rave reviews from the guests. She was easy to communicate with as far as planning went, she was punctual, and she did her job well. It was great to have live music playing- she really added a nice touch to the ceremony.
I am the head of the vocal dept. at Hillsdale College in MI. Sadie was an accompanist in my studio for four years. She was always prepared for my singers and spent time outside of lessons to help them and rehearse with them. She is extremely musical and is an excellent sight reader. She has a very affable personality and is very fun to be around. I would recommend her for any accompanying job as well as teaching of younger students. She is relialbe and well versed in much vocal music as well as piano literature. Sometimes she takes on too much and that is the only thing that I would have her work on to better her performance. That was in a college setting which can be very stressful when combined with other studies. In the professional world I don't think that would be a problem. She is a very well rounded musician and would be able to excel in many venues. I recommend her most highly.
Yukiko is a very caring and thorough teacher. My older daughter has been taking lessons for the past two years and enjoying improving her piano and music skills very much.
Glenn Baker is an absolute professional--from our first communication, through planning the music for our Class Reunion, up until the end of the evening of our event. He "got" our music perfectly -- and many folks commented on how good he was. He was extremely responsive to all of our questions, provided great value for her service and was punctual. We LOVED his lighting display -- made for a very festive, but not intrusive, atmosphere. Thanks so much, Glenn!
John Kunu is flexible in his approach to teaching, he brings many styles & skills to the keyboard, and he is willing to teach to what the goals of the student are rather than a regimented steps approach. John has been my daughter's piano teacher for several years. We are a musical family so it was important to us to choose a teacher with the depth in classical but also the breadth of knowledge in contemporary pop music, in order to keep our teen engaged in what she was learning. John's flexibility to teach to her interest areas while still making sure she mastered foundational skills and repertoire are rare in a piano teacher. We love that he weaves both classical instruction and improvisation so that a student is comfortable playing a piece of Bach as well as the latest songs on the radio. This has kept the learning fresh and relevant. But the greatest thing of all is when we hear our daughter wander over to the piano and just play -- she sounds beautiful and it is utter joy hearing your child make music and know that she will have this for a lifetime.
