Cost: A 30 minute lesson costs $35.00 (flat fee of $140.00 monthly). A 45 minute lesson costs $45.00 (flat fee of $180.00 monthly). A 60 minute lesson costs $60.00 (flat fee of $240.00). So for those months with 5 lessons, the 5th lesson is free.
Over the years I have developed a teaching method which cuts through all the jargon and confusion and simplifies learning. I've arranged over 230 songs (and counting) to include country, blues, rock, and jazz songs into easy to understand song sheets which include chord diagrams and melody/lead guitar tablature all of which are available to my students.
Additionally, I have many jam tracks to practice rhythm and lead. To make lead guitar instruction easier I've created a series of lead guitar videos which clearly show the logical steps to go from being a beginning lead guitar student to a seasoned jazz lead guitar player. These videos combined with my instruction make learning lead guitar fun and exciting!
Within 24 hours of each lesson, you'll receive comprehensive lesson notes covering what we went over and what to practice to be prepared for the next lesson. There's no need to waste valuable lesson time writing notes--they'll be provided to you.

After two years of self-taught guitar I was struggling to continue to improve and decided to find a teacher. In our first lesson, Mike assessed my abilities and we were immediately working on new skills. Each lesson is focused, each week I know what I am working on, and so my practice is rewarded with tangible progress. I’m a 73-year old who’s been playing guitar since I was in high school. I had taken some lessons for a few months when I first started, and have played ever since. Even after joining a band and playing gigs, and playing quite a bit for my church, I felt like I had really been stuck on the same plateau for a long time. So about 16 months ago, I started taking lessons with Mike. He worked with me to come up with a good plan – in my case, the focus is on learning how to improvise leads, adding some finger-style patterns and skills, and learning how to write songs. Thanks to his excellent teaching, I’ve made progress on all three fronts. Mike brings lots of experience to the party – both as a teacher and a performer – and has a library of jam tracks, tabs, and videos that provide a great foundation for learning. He’s a terrific guitarist, and can demonstrate and explain in a very clear way. Mike teaches lessons via FaceTime, which is very convenient. He’s very flexible if you need to reschedule, and the cost of lessons is very reasonable. Best of all, he’s a joy to work with. He takes a genuine interest in his students, is relentlessly positive, and it’s obvious that he’s rooting for his students to get better. I am a 70 year old retired middle school teacher. I thought it would be fun to learn how to play the guitar to accompany myself. I enjoy singing for my church and for friends. I took a few lessons from a young man in my church but it was very sporadic. Basically, I learned a few chords here and there. After a few months, I felt I was just staggering, going nowhere with my playing. I knew nothing about strumming or picking or even reading notes on my guitar fret-board. Even though my teacher was a relatively decent guitar player himself, he seemed to lack the ability to teach it. When I met Mike Rogers, I immediately felt that I could actually learn to play the guitar well. He has very deep technical and practical knowledge of the guitar and has been playing for over 60 years. He is very organized and encouraging, not to mention passionate about his art, which is intoxicating. He emphasizes the importance of practicing properly, even if it's only for 10 minutes. He goes over posture; hand and finger stretching; using the metronome for the correct beat; and many many other detailed advice of how not to be a sloppy player but a great player. It's important to practice notes correctly before moving on to the next stage. He has an incredible curriculum and lesson plans that help the student naturally gravitate to the next stage of professionalism. After each guitarlesson, he writes up a detailed report for the student so he can remember what he has learned and what to practice for the next lesson. Already in a few months, my husband and friends have noticed a considerable improvement in my playing. I am very hopeful that I will be able to play the guitar well. Also, I am fortunate to have found the best guitar teacher I could ever had asked for. I feel very confident that I will achieve my goals! I'm also having loads of fun. Patsy A.

I’m a 60-year-old beginner and after trying to self teach for several months, I decided I needed some more structure and help. Mike has been amazing! He laid out a plan during the first lesson, reviews what we do through follow up emails, and has been extremely helpful every step of the way. There are two things that I’d especially like to point out: Mike is extremely knowledgeable about the guitar and communicates his knowledge in easily understood terms. The second thing is more important to me, I think, and it’s that Mike really builds confidence. To me that’s important because as a beginner progress can seem really slow, But every time I have a lesson with Mike, I leave inspired and ready to play more. Mike is a really great instructor, and I would recommend him to anyone who is looking to learn to play or wants to improve their current level.

I am a 59 year old with no previous musical background. I have been working with Mike since January. In the past I have worked with two other instructors and had very limited success. Since working with Mike my progress has been amazing! I am actually playing songs and having fun doing it. Mike makes the lessons challenging but fun. He knows how to listen to your struggles and help you over come them. I look forward to my lessons every week and cant thank Mike enough. Highly recommend Mike to any level player.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I teach online lessons using FaceTime and Zoom. A 30 minute lesson costs $35.00. A 45 minute lesson costs $45.00. A 60 minute lesson costs $60.00. If there are 5 lessons in a month, the 5th lesson is free. I teach on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 1 to 5 (last lesson starts at 5 p.m.) and Saturdays from 1 to 5 p.m. I accept Credit Cards through Stripe.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
During our first lesson we'll discuss your goals, music interests, etc. I'll use this information to set up a working plan to help you meet your goals and discuss it with you. You'll receive several drills to work on your first week.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I started teaching guitar when I was 16. I've been in rock, blues, jazz, folk, and church praise bands over the years. During the Christmas season I perform at various retirement centers in the Manassas area. In an effort to introduce music to the next generation, I've taught, at no charge, the guitar to students in the Manassas Boys and Girls Club as well as Youth For Tomorrow in Bristow. I've taken music courses in high school and college as well as an extensive course in music theory and jazz guitar.
