I have lived in the Hampton Roads area all my life. I am married with three girls, 2 are grown and married, no I did not do their wedding photography although I did stand in for a late photographer at one of their weddings. I am new to Thumbtack but no stranger to photography. I got into photography when I was about 15 years old ( a very long time ago) with a 35mm SLR that was bought for my grandmother who had no interest in using it, so I inherited it and with it came a fiery passion for photography. I carried that camera everywhere I went. I learned all about photography the hard way. There was no automatic setting, aside from the ISO being dictated by the film it was all about creativity and experience. It was like Christmas every time I picked up my photos. Anyway, life happened, I got married and had kids so I put the camera down for several years. As soon as I was financially able, I purchased a Canon Rebel G and the flame could not be contained. I still use Canon equipment today. You can see that photography has been my passion for decades. I love to work with families. I enjoy capturing the joyful moments between a mother and child, new couples,or newlyweds. Much of which is found between the poses. My goal is to capture the spirit and personalities of the people I photograph, as well as the fun and emotion in the moment. I love tripod photography for that very reason. The camera is always ready and I am able to capture every laugh and smile. The candid shots mean so much more than just portrait photograph. I prefer natural settings to studio. Sure studio is easier, but its just not as fun. I enjoy landscape, architectural, aerial, and wildlife photography but I have so much fun with people and I enjoy that as much as the art and creativity.
