About
I began playing the tuba in the 7th grade, which taught me how to read music. Since the bass guitar and the tuba's music notation is exactly the same, I began playing bass in 1992. I played lead guitar for 22 years, prior to changing to bass. I'm 55 years old, and have over 40 years of experience playing in bands (since I was 14). For three semesters, I studied music at Va, State College (present Va. State University) while marching in the band. My services include a bass guitar and beginner's book available for the student, until they can purchase their own. I have a studio behind my home (used for band rehearsals), where the lessons will be given. Other items provided are bass amp, cable, guitar stand, and audio system for listening purposes.

FAQs

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Have an ear for music. Which means, if you've been listening to your favorite songs and can hum the music to me. Then that's a start. Also, this may sound a bit awkward, but you must be able to count. Huh? Yes. Count! You'd be surprised if you knew how many people who are unable to "count" at a steady pace. Whish is why I recommend a metronome. This is a device that provides several counting clicks/beeps that will help you keep to count at a steady pace.
