About
I have been counseling individuals, couples and groups for 25 years, addressing content ranging from depression to communication issues, anxiety to work-life balance. I have a transpersonal/relational approach: I believe and know that you already possess the wisdom to heal. You need a safe space and witness; and someone who can "hear" the unspoken spaces between the lines of your words, to help reflect back to you the wisdom you already embody, to be everything you ever wished for. In my non-judgmental approach you are safe to discover your deepest healing, within.

Cheryl blew us away. Even for our first session we felt like we have known her for years. She also made us feel extremely comfortable. Can’t wait for our next session with her! She is absolutely wonderful!

Cheryl is kind and empathetic. I have had more results in two sessions with her than six sessions with someone I was seeing in person. I will continue with Cheryl until we reach the goals we have established. I look forward to my sessions with her.

Thank you so much, Patricia, for your review. I had chills as you shared this feedback with me during our session, as it is so inspiring, and gratifying, to see the healing steps that clients such as you can take so quickly and effectively. I am so pleased to know how well you are doing and look forward to our continued journey into YOU and the "happy go lucky you" that you see in your mind's eye. I see her, too.

Cheryl Lister truly saved my life. After years of trial and error with various types of therapy and treatment, I've never felt more comfortable with a practitioner. Cheryl has helped me work through my deepest insecurities and anxieties by actively listening and giving insightful perspectives along with tools to efficiently move forward with a more harmonious outlook. I've worked with Cheryl in both a family therapy setting along with individual, and can't recommend her enough. Thank you for the constant support, Cheryl!

FAQs
What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Currently I am offering a lower fee than my standard, in light of the unsettling, complex times we find ourselves in. For individual sessions, I offer $135; for couples my fee is $160. If you purchase a series of sessions we can discuss a discount. If you have extraordinary financial challenges, please discuss any possible additional reduction in my fee. Please note I do not take insurance.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I welcome any and all questions for you to feel comfortable with me prior to a session. If needed, we can have a short, free phone call if that would also help you get a feeling for me. Most often, sessions are once a week at the same time and day, for 50 minutes. In between, I welcome email exchanges as my clients often have "assignments" in between sessions, and I am always happy to know how it's going. I use venmo, PayPal, zelle for receiving payment prior to a session.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I hold a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from University of California, Santa Barbara; and a Master's Degree in Counseling Psychology from John F. Kennedy University in Pleasant Hill, California. I am an Ordained Minister and engage in non-denominational counseling with my clients: I meet you where you are, so each session may look quite different from one client to the next. My intention is to be highly attuned and present to you, to listen, to see you, to witness you. From there, we begin to discover the clues to who you are, where you want to go, and how to get there.
