- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
A more fulsome process is required for web projects as opposed to logo design or common print design projects like business cards and the like. For web projects, I walk with my customers through a 6-step process: 1. Discovery - a free, no-obligation consultation culminating in a quote and project plan 2. Strategy - Formulate a conversion plan to ensure your web site will generate sales 3. Copywriting & SEO - Map out content, accounting for SEO needs/requirements 4. Design & Development - I get to work constructing your site and making sure it's easy on the eyes 5. Testing & Training - We work together to shake any bugs out of the site, and I'll show you how to use your new sales machine 6. GO LIVE!
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I'm largely self-taught. Back in 1996, I bought a very thick book on HTML so I could figure out how to build a website for my employer at the time. I've been building websites ever since, both as a hobbyist and professionally. I'm constantly reading articles from trade publications and experts in the field. This helps me keep up with best practices, design trends, and new techniques. I also have memberships with sites like SitePoint Premium and PluralSight.com, which provide cutting edge training in web design and development. As often as time allows, I'm digging into training videos and creating personal design and development projects so I can expand my skill set, grow as a professional, and refine my craft.
