I contacted Ian because my son was gifted a camera recently and needed some pointers on how to use it effectively. Ian responded to my inquiry right away and we set a time to meet the following day. He arrived right on time and spent an hour with my son taking photos at the Botanical Garden. I know my son really enjoyed their exchange and looks forward to another meet up in the future. Thank you!

If I could leave zero stars, I would. Ian is a nice enough guy. Ian is not a professional wedding or engagement photographer. Ian provided almost zero direction and the process was incredibly slow. Ian only took 1-2 photos per location and it shows in the final product. He took flash photos outside. Some of the photos I received from Ian were blurry, which is shocking considering we were standing perfectly still. The style and quality of photos is NOT consistent with his pricing. When I booked with Ian, I was under the impression he was “Rolling Shutter Photography” on Instagram like he is on thumbtack. This Instagram was the only professional photographer under that business name I could find, so I assumed it was him! When we had a ZOOM meeting, I complimented specific photos from that Instagram. Instead of correcting me, he said “thank you” and explained I needed to pay a $600 deposit ASAP to secure my spot. I paid Ian, and upon realizing he was not the photographer I thought I had booked after receiving engagement photos, I promptly explained he was not the same photographer I thought I had been communicating with and canceled our wedding photography. Ian refused to refund me or even acknowledge my messages. Even though I was extremely disappointed with the engagement photos, I paid in full and gave a tip because I felt it was the right thing to do. I am shocked that this was not enough for Ian and he is now keeping my $600 deposit that I paid under the impression that he was someone else. Despite this, he still will not return my wedding photo down payment. The most frustrating thing about this experience is not even the bad photos, but the way Ian has handled this unfortunate situation. We are now stretched even more thinly with our wedding budget due to Ian’s slimy business practices. I explained how misled I felt, and why I felt that way, and he completely ignored me. I brought up the fact that he is using the same name on thumbtack as a well known Instagram photographer. Ian’s most glowing review is from his girlfriend (Kayla K.) by the way. The “headshots” she had done were with her boyfriend.
