FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I charge a $200 nonrefundable retainer/deposit to hold the date. My base price is $750 and goes up from there depending on the event, hours needed, location and venue. Weddings start at a base rate of $950. Additional hours are $50 per. If I need to travel over approximately 30 miles I will assess the distance and potentially charge extra for that as well. I do not charge for preparation services or setup and tear down fees. However if I am required to set up and tear down more than once due to a wedding and reception (for example) being in two separate areas or locations then I will assess a $100 fee for each additional. Rehearsals for weddings are a minimum of $175. I do not charge extra to provide some minimal lighting or karaoke though I do charge extra for my amazing mirror ball set up.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have received the Thumbtack Best of 2015 and 2016 awards in addition to WeddingWire's 2021 Couple's Choice Award and The Knot's Best of 2021 Award. I am a trained musician and classically trained vocalist. I have participated in thousands of weddings from multiple angles in my lifetime as well as many other events and parties. I worked as assistant and paralegal to the North Marion County Justice of the Peace and also as a church secretary for a large congregation church. I constantly keep informed of updates to music equipment, professional DJ software and technology. I stay subscribed to various DJ training programs as well as DJ subscriptions regarding current events and technology. I stay on top of current top music and trends.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
With my background in music and performance as well as working in churches and the legal field with a judge/justice of the peace it was only natural. I went to college for music performance and education. At the time it happened I wasn't even thinking about becoming a DJ but a good friend of mine took the time to convince me it was a good idea. Boy did I laugh but look at me today. I would have never thought I would be doing this 22 years ago. I'm good at what I do and I couldn't be happier.
