I was quoted a fair price for my one bedroom apartment. The only issues were that the cleaner I think didn’t understand a lot of what I was saying and asking. Certain areas of my home I let the cleaner know she didn’t have to work on organizing, but I think she didn’t understand and worked on them anyway, focused on them even.
She spent around 5-6 hours, which I had only requested 3-4 hours, but she spent a lot of that time going through old boxes of stuff that was packed away and putting half of it back around the house, old toiletries and makeup, less than half empty stuff that I was wanting to throw out or store away were put back all around my bathroom in odd places, drawers in my kitchen were filled with drinks and a stack of Tupperware I told her she didn’t have to put away because I didn’t make space for them yet. She spent lot of time going through old boxes, but leaving them still half full, stuff like taking all the coats off the coatrack and putting them all in the closet, reorganizing the cabinets where I keep the bathroom cleaning supplies…
I wouldn’t have minded all of that so much, plus that she worked on stuff I asked her not to work on, if the main areas I had asked to be cleaned were cleaned well. I had asked for a deep clean with a focus of the kitchen and the bathroom. She spent so much time with the coats and boxes in the living room and entryway and bathroom cabinets, I think she didn’t have enough tome for the kitchen and some of the bathroom. Like my fridge was cleaned out, but all the countertops were still dirty, there were still like dry tomato seeds stuck on the counter, and when I went to wipe the counters down myself, they were still all dirty, like they were probably wiped gently with a dirty cloth— but one half of the countertops wasn’t wiped at all, as you can see in the pictures, and all the stuff out on the counters weren’t organized and put away except for a few things. I definitely would not say it was deep cleaned. The bathroom counter was also still visibly dirty, the mirror had a giant diagonal smudge across it.
I had tried to explain in the beginning that the things I wanted organized were the things that were already out on the counters, things that obviously needed to be put away, she even asked about it with her translator app, but I think there was some lack of understanding because she definitely spent most of the time working on stuff already put away in boxes around the house. I thought it would be obvious even without me saying it that I wanted the stuff already out on the kitchen counters/table etc. to be organized, not the stuff inside my random storage boxes. She was taking half the stuff out, leaving the other half— and not in the kitchen or bathroom which I was clear that I wanted those areas focused on.
In the end I didn’t have her go in my bedroom at all (One bedroom apartment) to clean because she had already spent so much time on the rest of the house, and by then I saw how she cleaned and I didn’t think she would understand that I would want her to just vacuum and wipe down dusty surfaces, not go through every item and rearrange all my small things instead of cleaning what is visibly dirty.
I wouldn’t mind if it wasn’t for the fact that the main things I wanted cleaned didn’t end up very clean. And now I have to get rid of all this old stuff she unpacked and put all over the bathroom, and other things, like she stored the toilet bowl cleaner wand upside down and put a bunch of supplies in the same bucket where I keep my toilet plunger, so all of that has to be disinfected and reorganized, aside from wiping down my own counters and mirror and putting away all the stuff inside the kitchen that I’d asked her to do.
I gave 3 stars because my house is definitely much cleaner and smells nice, the cleaner was very nice, I know she did a lot of work and took her time to do what she thought was best, but I had to take away 2 stars for the issues mentioned. I’m attach
