I prefer to do everything myself, but is there anything worse than moving? I don't have many friends who work for beer these days, so I broke down and decided to pay some movers this time around. They arrived on time and worked quickly. The moving process is much easier when you pay for help. Hopefully, I will not be moving again soon, but if I do, I'll give them repeat business.

Arrived ahead of schedule. Worked quickly and efficiently, and always seemed willing to go the extra mile. I've had issues with movers in the past, but would recommend Corey in a heartbeat.

Fantastic movers! They are the best movers I have ever moved with. Carlos was the lead man & worked so well with Nick and Ivan. They were so careful to wrap all my large paintings, white lacquer furniture and white leather chairs with shrink wrap then in blankets. Large flat-screen TV's arrived in perfect condition. Definitely would use them again. Leslie

Fantastic service. The movers were on time, took great care with our stuff and worked very hard. Throughout the long, tiring day, they were all friendly and personable at all times. We have already hired them back for a couple more projects and highly recommend them.

Ron and Thomas were pretty good, and I'd definitely use them again. Their service was half the price of others. They seem to be a young business still figuring things out; they weren't as fast or smooth as other movers I've used, but for the dollar amount they did great. They weren't fully prepared when they arrived (no moving blankets, but if I had moved myself I wouldn't have had any, either) and because of not having all the tools they needed, they had to spend extra time packing my items carefully (which I appreciate!). They are rough around the edges (taking smoke breaks, brought a friend along who wasn't a mover, stopped for lunch during a two-hour move), but I'm totally okay with all of that....to me, it isn't worth paying twice as much just for a more corporate vibe.

We hired On Budget to help us with a local move.  All in all, it went pretty well and we highly recommend them.  The four movers arrived on time.  They are work horses!  They really did an awesome job.  Very strong and quick.  Nobody was slacking off on the job, which we really appreciated. We fed them lunch and tipped them well.  They deserved it!  After all, the job took just under 12 hours.  A great way to go is to get the sandwich "platter" at Subway on the catering menu for under $40.  We just gave the movers the entire platter plus a mini cookie platter.  That way they kept their energy up and didn't have to leave for lunch.  We also supplied them bottles of water. The movers arrived with one 26' truck, and ended up filling it to the top.  The only bad part was we were only half done with all the stuff we needed to move!  So they brought over another truck.  They didn't charge us for the second truck.  We really appreciated this.  But of course, since we now had two 26' trucks to fill to the top and then unload on the other end, everything took several hours longer to finish.  This was not the movers fault, but it would have been nice to be better prepared for this outcome, not only for us, but for the mover's schedules too. Other than that, we were very happy with this company and would definitely use them again.  Only next time we will know that for us, we need two 26' trucks.  We do highly recommend them, but just make sure that the estimate for what size of truck and how many trucks you need or as close as possible.

Awesome sums up my moving experience with "The Moving Clique." Quality Customer Service, Quailty Customer Care. Sunday June 3rd. My daughter needed to move quickly. While she worked, I researched movers on Thumbtack. Did the whole online research and inquiry. I called "Smooth Movers" 5 Star reviews on Thumtack who said they could do the job and I was given a time. I told them great and that I had to call my daughter to make sure the time worked for her. When I called the company back to confirm the time the owner said he was running into a meeting, and his associate would call me right back. After 3 hours of waiting with no return call, I called them again. I was told unfortunately the appointment time was no longer available and they were completely booked on Saturday. Ofcourse I was not happy and expressed it. The co-owner then assured me he would find a crew to move my daughter on Saturday June 2nd and would call me back. He never did. (I PLAN TO WRITE A REVIEW ON "Smooth Movers" and their nonresponsive poor Customer Care) HERE IS WHERE "THE MOVING CLIQUE" COMES IN. Found them on Thumbtack as well with a 5 Star rating. And true to their rating they are a 5 STAR moving company, unlike "Smoot Movers" My call to "The Moving Clique" was very last minute because the other appointment fell through, although extremely busy "The Moving Clique" came through. We had to wait but they graciously worked us in and got the job done quickly and efficiently. It was worth the wait. The guys were pleasant quick and efficient ... they provided quality customer care deserving of a 5 STAR rating. Thank you Marcus for coming through for my daughter. Signed, a Happy Mother and Satisfied Customer. I highly recommend "The Moving Clique" 5 STARS

Move went very smooth. Both movers were very respectful, fast, and nice. Moved out a one bedroom apt in under 3 hours. Communication between movers and the manager to myself could have been better. Original estimated time was 2-3, and came at 6. They had an unexpected larger move before though so that's acceptable. Anythony was nice and easy to work with over the phone.

We were very happy with the overall move experience with Gentle Hands. We moved a 3 BR home from a storage unit in Seattle to our new home in Bellingham, WA. Despite the long distance move, our quoted price and ultimate bill were very reasonable. I appreciated working on logistics with one person throughout. Dawn was very responsive and did work hard to make sure the process went smoothly. There was one misunderstanding of communication but again, Dawn cleared that up for me in a timely matter. The three guys that were assigned to the physical move, Edward, Jon and Odell, were friendly and hard working. I would recommend this company to others and would use them again myself.

Signature movers helped me with the second half of a long distance move. I appreciate that they hung in there with me as I had difficulty with my Budget Truck rental. Due to Budget reservations incompetence my move was rescheduled 3 times. Signature did not complain but worked with me as I struggled to find a reliable truck rental. I really appreciate the movers fast work unloading my truck and the way they fit my items into my storage unit like a giant 3D puzzle. Thank you guys for your help this week.

I can't take a star off for the one issue that I had during the move today. The truck size required two round trips. In the past using uhaul and my then teenagers it only ever took one trip. My teens are are older now and scattered so I had to hire movers for the first time in my life. The move took nine hours. But this is not a complaint. The two workmen had such great attitudes and work ethics. I think they only took one five minute break all day. I enjoyed employing a local small business I enjoyed the people Nothing got broken Great overall experience Hire them so they can afford a bigger truck :)

I wanted to move a couple of boxes and heavy equipment from my home to a storage unit, thus I didn't need a moving crew for a long period of time (the majority of the movers I contacted had minimum time requirements, 3h was the common one). Since Zolo doesn't have those time minimums, it worked perfectly for me. They sent a two persons crew which did a fantastic job, they took care of everything. The only thing I had to do was to show them what was going and what was staying. They also unloaded and arranged my stuff at the destination perfectly. I would definitely hire them again.

Trico Long Distance Movers Seattle was great. Nemer, Rodolfo, Carlos, and Andrew were fast and were all very hard working. They showed up exactly on time and helped us pack last minute items, and finished the move sooner than expected.

So many moving companies campaign with their shiny fleets and even shinier movers. I have fell into their traps a few times and realized that their shine is only on the outside. That’s why I decided to hire Great American Moving Systemswhich has been in this business for a very long time. Their movers may not have the shiny informs and their fleet might be a little rusty. But their efficiency levels are absolutely unmatched. The movers worked tirelessly packing all of the things I own while moving them. They delivered on time and there wasn’t one item that suffered any kind of damages. The bill was very close to the estimate which was extremely reasonable.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost for long-distance movers?

Long-distance movers transport your belongings across the country for you. No more renting a trailer and road-tripping from state to state with your entire house hitched to your bumper. Long-distance movers make the move happen so you can fly to your new home, suitcase in hand, and wait for your furniture to arrive. Nationally, the average price range for long-distance movers is $1,490-$2,230. The distance you are moving and the number of cubic feet the movers have to transport will both affect cost. Another factor in long-distance moving costs is whether you choose to pay for an exclusive move or a consolidated move.

In an exclusive move, which is more expensive, your belongings are the only cargo on the moving truck. The movers travel directly to your new house and deliver your belongings on a scheduled day. A consolidated move is more affordable because the movers transport your belongings along with those of other people, saving them time and gas — which means you save money. The downside is that your belongings typically arrive with a two-week delivery window rather than on a prescheduled day. Read reviews to make sure you can trust the company with your possessions to ensure a peaceful moving process.

How much does it cost to move a one-bedroom apartment across the country?

Professional movers can handle the hard work of moving your one-bedroom apartment across the country for you. You can determine what your move will cost by learning the rate your movers charge per cubic foot and how they factor distance into the total cost. Cross-country movers typically charge based on your belongings rather than apartment size because that determines how much work they will have to do. For example, a studio apartment that is crammed full of things will take more work and moving truck space than the contents of a three-bedroom apartment with very little furniture.

Cross-country movers may also have varying rates, depending on where in the country you are moving. For example, a company may charge $5 per cubic foot for consolidated moves along the East Coast and $6 per cubic foot for consolidated moves from the East Coast to the central states or the West Coast. A one-bedroom apartment costs approximately $1,500 to move across the country.

How much does it cost to move across the country?

The national average cost for hiring cross-country movers is $1,490-$2,220. A number of factors can affect the cost. One factor is the distance you want to move. For example, an East Coast-based moving company may charge $5 per cubic foot for consolidated moves along the East Coast and $6 per cubic foot for consolidated moves from the East Coast to the central states or the West Coast. Another factor is how many belongings you have. Most cross-country movers charge by the cubic foot.

The type of move you want is another consideration in cost. You can have your belongings moved exclusively and delivered on a set day, or you can opt for a consolidated move, which is less expensive. In a consolidated move your belongings are stored and transported with the goods of other customers who are moving to your general vicinity during the same general time frame as you. Your belongings should arrive within a one- to two-week window, rather than on a set day. If you want the cross-country movers to pack your belongings for you, the cost will also increase.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
