*Newly located in Kent! Now available for new students.
Hi there! I'm Shien Yuin, a professional piano and violin instructor passionate about guiding my students to explore and enjoy what music can bring to their lives.
I have been working in the music education industry for two decades, and absolutely enjoy guiding and watching my students picking up music playing and loving it! Graduated with the Piano Performance and Pedagogy Degree, music teaching has always been at the core of my career.
Having taught in a public school as a music teacher in Singapore, and later on as the Head of the Performing Arts Department overseeing various performing art activities, these invaluable experiences had given me the cutting-edge opportunities to work with students of different backgrounds, learning needs, personalities and talents and developed skills necessary to guide each of them based on their learning abilities.
Being an educator at heart, my philosophy of music teaching is to help students discover the joy of music and to establish the mindset of lifelong learning. I've taught students of all ages. I personally handpick the materials for my students based on their personalities and learning needs.
If you're looking for a teacher who is serious about enriching the music learning journey of your child or yourself, I’d love to get in touch with you! Send me a message and we'll go from there 🙂

We were so pleased to have found Shien! She was my daughters piano teacher and I cant say enough good things about her. She is efficient with your time.meaning you walk in the door and she immediately gets right to it. Making the most of each session. She is just the right amount of encouragement and discipline. Her students are expected to learn theory and work through a series of books to advance. Some homework. Definitely home practice and her students must pass the song before advancing. Soaccountability!Shien organized a recital for her students that was held at a local church. It was very well organized, flowed perfectly and very well attended! 25+ students plus parents and families. Pews were packed! It was impressive. My only negative thing to say is that she relocated so we are trying to find her replacement. (Not an easy task). You are in very good hands with Shien as your childs piano teacher!!!

My daughter started lessons about five years ago, when she was about 8. Shein Yuin is an amazing and patient teacher. She really made my kid love the piano. She always picked great songs for her recital pieces that were fun and played to my daughters strengths. We were very sad when Shein Yuin had to relocate and we could not take lessons from her anymore. I highly recommend her, you will be lucky to have her as a teacher.

The best piano teacher ever! Miss Shien has taught my daughter for 8 years now. The whole reason my daughter has stuck with piano is because of Miss Shien! She is patient and kind and always open to what my daughter is interested in learning. Miss Shien has been one of the most influential mentors in my daughters life and we are so thankful!

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I would conduct an informal interview with the potential student/ student's parent to find out his/ her music background, where he/ she has left off (if the potential student has learnt the instrument before) and what they their goals are in learning the instrument.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I graduated with a Piano Performance and Pedagogy Degree in 2007. I played in the symphony orchestra of the university as the first violinist. I have been teaching piano and violin, and music lessons in general for a couple of decades, teaching students from 4 years old to students in their 60s. I am currently running a music education business focusing on providing piano and violin education to students around the greater Seattle area, including private lessons and regular workshops.
