- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I became a licensed Journeyman Plumber PLO1 in Washington State and owned several construction businesses. In 1991 we had a Plumbing service and repair business and started taking on a few bookkeeping customers because a new software called QuickBooks just came on the market for $100.00. It did most everything our specialized construction software did that cost $55,000.00. It was obvious with QuickBooks I could help a contractor setup their bookkeeping system, give them a little training and visit their office once in a while and they had their bookkeeping under control. In 2000 we sold our last construction business and decided to focus on providing Construction Bookkeeping and Accounting services to a few select contractors in North King County By 2004 we expanded our service area to Snohomish County By 2008 we expanded to the entire state of Washington because all of the QuickBooks files were being kept on highly secure web servers in the same locations where some of the local banks and healthcare companies kept their records. This meant our clients could login to the server via a secure website and they would have an instant remote desktop to see and work on their QuickBooks as if it were sitting in their computer. By 2010 we upgraded to a premier web server that is far better and faster. In fact it is so quick that it is easy to forget that it is actually not in the same room. Our clients love it because they do not have to upgrade their computers in order to run the newer versions of QuickBooks and all the support technicians are in the United States, they speak English and since we have the premium support plan we and our clients get priority pamper treatment. Not some self-help website, pick up the phone and talk to the technician or get on an instant chat. If needed, with your permission, they will link to your computer or notebook and fix most problems right away while you sit and watch your mouse and keyboard work. - What types of customers have you worked with?
QuickBooks is a mess because it was not setup properly for construction accounting. QuickBooks has an easy-step interview for setting up a simple system for a one person handyman working by the hour changing light bulbs. To get QuickBooks setup correctly we have a template that we have invested thousands of hours to develop and we continue updating it. Learn more on our website.
