FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Constantly - It is required by law for Architects to maintain their license.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Lots of people design - not all understand construction / codes / the Pacific Northwest detailing and how to coordinate all disciplines into a coherent building. Good Architects can draw well - Great Architects create great buildings that last for years without issues.
- What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
Architects cost more than drafts people for a number of reasons. #1 We are on of only a few licensed professions and that is for a reason - Life and Safety. We are trained in and take continuing education on it or loose our license. This is why a licensed professional stamps drawings. #2 Architects look at the bigger picture. We integrate all components of Structural, Electrical, Mechanical, Plumbing, Interior Design, Landscape and more. Architects were once known as master builders. They understood not just design but the construction of things. I strive to return to that way of being. #3 A good Architect understands construction. Details are either a bane or a boon. Good details leave your house dry, safe and free from mold.....let's not talk about bad detailing.
