Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: Professionalism. I don't see my job as a way to get the most money out of my clients as possible. I see my clients as people who are just trying to get their work done. Getting your business up and running as quickly as possible in a manner that is sustainable is our goal. You do not really want a quick fix that may fail next week. That is not economically viable from a business standpoint. I will explain the problem without resorting to complicated technical language. I will present the options and implement the solution you choose. Let's get your computer systems working for you instead of against you.

FAQs

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

Investigating (troubleshooting) and repairing networking issues is the primary call I seem to receive. When your computers cannot talk to each other or the Internet, I can help. Computers that are running slowly or not responding are also a primary concern of my customers. There are steps that can be implemented to restore speed to a computer in many cases. Sometimes, though the computer is just aging and needs replacement. Sorting out the many options for telephone and Internet service can be daunting. I can help you make sense of it all and select a solution that works for your business and your budget.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Talk to prospective providers about your problem for a few minutes. Do they understand the problem from a technical perspective? Can they can explain the problem back to you so you can understand it? Ensure they are not condescending or overbearing, but that they are professional and competent. Anyone you hire should be personable and understand that your business is important to you. You want your computers to work so you can get back to your work. Technical specifications and language are not your business, they are the providers. You shouldn't need a degree in Computer Science to run your business, just like you don't need a degree in Accounting (unless you are an accountant, of course). You hire people to take care of those aspects of the business for you. You have other goals to accomplish.

  • What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

Folks who are professional computer technicians are educated professionals, like accountants, HR personnel, and marketing analysts. Many companies have people who can perform these tasks, but sometimes you need to call a professional. A professional with the training and experience to quickly grasp the problem, provide solutions, and explain what went wrong. They should accomplish this without talking down to you, speaking in technical jargon, or breaking your budget. Don't assume that someone who knows their way around a computer is a computer professional. They may be able to fix your problems, or they may cause a lot of additional expense. You wouldn't want to hire a Cessna pilot to fly a Jumbo jet. The pilot may be able to get the job done, but everyone would be better off with a pilot with the right training and experience.
