FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I usually charge by time and materials, or will come give free estimates to provide my customers with a bottom line price.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
To keep my plumbing license active, it must be renewed it every two years. Prior to the state renewing it, I must complete sixteen hours of continuing education. If I don't complete the continuing education, the state won't renew my license, and it will expire, resulting in having to retake the state exam.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
In my late teens I became employed in plumbing wholesale at Keller Supply Co. I moved on to a service shop to do retail sales and started going out on jobs to help our other journeyman. At the time it required 4500 field hours as an apprentice to be able to take the residential specialty exam with the state of Washington. The apprentice requirements have gone up from 4500 hours to 6500 currently.
