Does your dog pull you down the street, lag way behind or react to every passing dog or person? Do you have to wake up early or stay up late to walk your dog and avoid encountering other dogs or humans? In this “Walk with K9 Command” program, I will show you how to train your dog to walk politely next to you without marking, pulling, lagging or exhibiting any other unacceptable behaviors. In the first session you will learn the ins and outs of the structured walk, including the concepts of thresholds and auto-sits, and the importance of the handler’s body language and energy. By establishing leadership with proper tools, techniques and our training philosophy, you will learn how to create an unspoken connection with your dog so you can finally enjoy a peaceful walk. At the end of the session, we will put all of this into action with a walk around your neighborhood. In the second 75-minute session, you will apply what you and your dog have learned to the “real world” at high distraction areas (Greenlake Park, pet stores, etc.). You will learn the common mistakes folks make with the walk, such as waiting too late to give the dog information, and how to avoid them. **The price includes one prong collar, which will be provided to you at your first session. Please bring your own 4- to 6- foot leash. **This program is not designed for dogs exhibiting any aggressive behavior. While the majority of misbehaved dogs will benefit from this program, there are approximately 10 percent of dogs, such as those struggling with severe dog reactivity, that will require a more intensive training program. I will inform you during your first session if your dog requires more intense training. In such a case, K9 Command will provide you with a full refund for the “Walk with K9 Command” program and will recommend the appropriate program for your dog. ---------------------------------------------------------- 1 Week Board & Train – $800* *The above Board & Train price does NOT include the cost of an E-collar. - What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I like to know as much about the dog as possible. I usually take between 5 - 10 minutes of meeting a dog to assess their initial behavior. From there I'd like to know what my client's goals are so that we are both on the same page in regards to the dog's training program.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I've been training dogs for 15 years. I first started training dogs as a hobby for family and friends. I then moved to volunteer work with Operations Paws for Homes to help dogs become more adoptable and find their forever homes.
