I took lessons from Nick for 3 years and he taught me from the ground up on the guitar and bass. Along with being an incredible musician, Nick is great at teaching different techniques and playing styles as well as thoroughly explaining music theory in a understandable way. I still use the theory he taught me daily in my role as a musician and an audio engineer.Sep 4, 2013
Nicholas is one of the most knowledgeable musicians I know. Not only he is a good guitar (and bass) player, but he has experience in writing for full orchestra - which is impressive on its own. How many guitar teachers can do that? I like that variety of formats he offers, and I personally prefer the group lessons since they are more lively and there is much more information "exchanged" between teacher and students. It's also fun to see how other people are reacting to the same information - you learn a lot form your classmates too! Last, but not least, Nicholas is one of the most upstanding and honest persons I know. 5 stars, heartily recommended.Feb 6, 2014
Nick is a great teacher and an honest and solid guy. I would definitely recommend him for guitar lessons. He is dedicated to his students progress in music and shows commitment rarely found in a guitar teacher.Feb 7, 2014
Before taking lessons from Nick, I mostly played around for fun and only knew how to play simple chords and songs. Eventually, I wanted to learn more and take my guitar playing to the next level, but didn't know how. I found Nick to be a very knowledgeable and talented musician. He understands technique and theory very well and knows how to teach it. Before I started learning from him he sat me down and talked about what I wanted to accomplish and get out of my lessons. He asked me what style of music I was interested in and what types of things I wanted to learn and made a plan that was specific to my goals and passions. He kept it fun and challenging and when I got discouraged or unmotivated he encouraged me and kept me engaged. I am very happy with the level of playing I was able to achieve and the new techniques that I learned. I highly recommend Nicholas Anderson to anyone interested in learning guitar.Sep 10, 2013
Nicholas Anderson is by far one of the best guitar teachers out there. Nicholas always puts his students first. Unlike many guitar teachers out there, he is always striving to do what's best for his students. Whether it be private lessons or group lessons, he has the right format for you In response to Chuck S.'s review below, it seems like he just has a chip on his shoulder. I have had nothing but an amazing experience with Nicholas and he is always honest and upfront about his policies. He handle his business in a professional manner. Nicholas will help you become a better guitar player if you are open to what he has to teach you. The group formats are WAY better than the private lesson formats. It's great to be able to play with other musicians and see that you are not the only one having trouble doing something. A+ guitar instructor for those that are committed to learning their instruments.Feb 6, 2014
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?First, I evaluate if the student is a good fit for the school. I do not accept everyone who wants to take lessons because I do not pretend to know how to teach all styles of music or all types of guitar (I do not teach bass guitar). I also know my limits - there's no way I can be a good teacher and have hundreds of students, so I purposely keep my numbers manageable so everyone gets a good experience in their lessons. Second, we have a face to face meeting where I evaluate where you're at in your playing and formulate a plan for how to move forward. If we seem to be a good fit, I make recommendations about what kind of lesson plan would be best and we go from there.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?B.A. in Music; M.M. in Composition, 16 years of guitar teaching experience in private an collegiate settings.
