Hi there! Urban Tails WA was a pet care company, started in early quarantine days to fuel my love for animals. My name is Maddie Hassett, I am 22 years old, and animals are my passion. I have had various pets my whole life, and I am an Animal Science major at WSU. I started this business in the beginning of 2020 and I loved everyday of it. I moved away for school in August 2021, meaning the end of the business, but I look forward to continuing pet sitting/dog walking on a smaller scale basis while I am in school in Pullman! Maddie has daily walked our two small dogs for the past two weeks. My husband and I both had surgery at almost the same time (not recommended) and were unable to give Lúlu and Tranquilo their daily walk. After the first day, the tails wagged and the bodies wiggled when Maddie arrived! They loved their walk time and it gave them an opportunity to do their business on-the-go. Maddie was prepared with a big smile, poop bags and treats. When Tranquilo refused to walk any further (he's very dramatic if it's at all hot) Maddie carried him home the last few blocks. Above and beyond. This is a young entrepreneur starting out on the right foot. Maddie went the extra mile in caring for my kitty. She took care of her food, litter and well being. She made friends with her and brushed her, which my kitty loves. She also brought in my mail and watered my outdoor plants. Miss Fisher needs a new plate and bowl everyday due to her cat acne. Maddie changed her dishes and washed them in the dishwasher. Maddie communicated with me daily and replied promptly to my text messages. She did a great job of caring for my kitty and I recommend her services.

Our dog was very anxious so I Had Urban Tails start walking each and everyday and he is a much happier dog now and no more anxiety problems. She was here each day at the designated time, even had Madeline house and dog sit for a whole week instead of sending him to boarder and he was very happy and it was good to know someone was at our house for the time we we gone .

Maddie has been cat sitting for us for awhile now when we go out of town and I cannot tell you how much peace of mind I have knowing she is watching our kitty. She is very professional, personable and is great with our cat. She really goes above and beyond to make sure our Stanley is happy. I would absolutely recommend Maddie to anyone who needs their fur babies watched!

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I love to connect with new clients over the phone and then propose a free meet and greet. This allows me to meet with the animals and learn more about their routine so that I can give them the best care.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have owned animals my whole life, from dogs to cats, as well as a bearded dragon and a chinchilla. I have been in this line of work for a little over a year now and have loved every minute of it.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
I worked for a larger company that offered services similar to mine. My clients I gained from this company didn’t love the way the company worked and I realized I could fix a lot of these issues on my own. And Urban Tails was born. Working with animals is my passion, and my goal is to make a career out of it. The goal of my business is to add a personal touch to animal care in a way that boarding companies cannot.
