Hello! My name is Christine, and I would love to help your child (or you!) learn the cello!
I completed my Bachelors and Master in Music degrees at the Juilliard School, and currently I am doing a post-graduate degree at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, while freelancing with orchestras, teaching, and playing concerts in the Bay Area. I have been on faculty at Bay Area's own Notes by the Bay Festival and a teaching assistant of Jonathan Koh at the Meadowmount School of Music. While living in New York, I took the Suzuki Pedagogy Training Seminar at the premiere Suzuki school for children, School for Strings, for two years and worked closely with children in group classes and beginner development. I have been teaching cello and chamber music for 10+ years and love working with both kids and adults to achieve their musical goals and needs, helping students join local youth orchestras, win competitions, and most importantly, develop a love for classical music.
I offer individual and group lessons, taking great attention and care to my students' unique needs and approach teaching with a very positive and inspiring attitude.

I first saw Christine performed at a Groupmuse event (an amazing Cello quartet) about a year ago. Then got introduced to her personally by a good friend of mine who is also a cellist.
I have been very fortunate and blessed to learn Cello (practically from Zero) for the past 10 months with Christine!
She even helped me picked my own Cello after trying several different ones.
Teaching is already a hard job as it is, it’s even harder and rarer to find a good and dedicated teacher like Christine that can continue to motivate and push their students according to our individual paces.
In summary, I have nothing but praises and would highly recommend Christine to anyone looking to learn the Cello!
P.S. a friend told me that it’s also okay/recommend to have trial lessons to get a feeling, because at the end of the day we all have slightly different preferences & compatibility.

Excellent expertise. Christine is very effective at relaying techniques and practice methods that she has been trained on and has benefitted from. She does it in a way that helps the student understand why and the benefit.

I have been taking cellolessons with Christine since December 2021. As a 57 year old you wonder if you could ever learn how to play cello much less sound good playing the cello. I had taken lesson with someone else before but I never felt I was sounding good enough. Christine has helped me in my playing I never thought I would find. She is fantastic!!

I offer weekly, every other week, and monthly lessons and group lessons. Inquire for details.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
It's important to get to know the student and his/her goals. From there, I start with the basics to establish a solid foundation. My ultimate goal for my students is for them to develop their own musical voice, mastering technical tools to help them achieve the freedom to express themselves.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
As a professionally trained cellist, I am certified in Suzuki Pedagogy at the School for Strings in NYC, which gave me many hours of experience in teaching lessons to children as young as three. I have also served as Teaching Assistant at the Meadowmount School of Music in New York.
