- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Always!! There are always new techniques, products, education being offered. Not only is it crucial to stay on top of business but its also rewarding! There may have been one way I was taught or perhaps only one product available for a certain hair type or service and with the constant change and developments theres options. Options are everything in the salon, what works for one clients may not work for another so understanding and knowing my resources is great.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I have been doing hair since I can remember. I took my curling iron to 5th grade camp because I was adamant that everyone in my cabin was going to dinner with curls and up dos!! I grew up watching an older aunt in her salon with her clients and it was always like home. By the time I was 13 I knew that all I wanted to do was hair and make clothes. At 19 I went to beauty school to recieve my certificate/degree and at 23 I opened my own salon. I hope that one day I inspire someone like my aunt did for me!
- What types of customers have you worked with?
I offer full range of services in the salon outside of bridal/formal/prom services. I offer braids, naturual, ethnic and biracial hair care as well as extensions, color, relaxers, perms, cuts, etc. There isn't much that I can't or don't do and since I work on all hair types, races and nationalities, my knowledge if very extensive.
