FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Every project is unique, so pricing is based on factors such as room size, the amount of preparation and repairs needed, paint and product selections, and the overall scope of work. I'll provide a detailed written estimate before any work begins, so you'll know exactly what to expect. To reserve your project on my schedule, I typically require a 50% deposit, with the remaining balance due upon completion after you've had an opportunity to review the finished work. I don't charge hidden fees, and any changes to the original scope will always be discussed and approved before additional work is performed. If you'd like to learn more about how I structure projects and what each service tier includes, you can also visit my website for additional details.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I start with a conversation about your goals, timeline, and the look you're hoping to achieve. If you're still deciding on colors or finishes, I'm happy to help with color selection and sheen recommendations. After seeing the space, either in person or via video call, whichever you prefer, I'll provide a detailed estimate outlining the scope of work. Once you're ready to move forward, we'll schedule a date that works best for you. Before painting begins, I ask that larger furniture either be moved out of the room or pulled away from the walls to allow for safe and efficient access. Furniture and belongings that remain in the space will be carefully covered and protected. I then complete any necessary wall repairs and surface preparation to help ensure a beautiful, long-lasting finish. Throughout the project, I'll keep you updated on my progress, answer any questions along the way, and make sure you're happy with the results before considering the job complete. My goal is to leave your space cleaner, brighter, and more enjoyable than when I arrived.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I'm an engineer by trade, and I bring that same attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving approach to every painting project. I believe great results come from careful planning, thorough preparation, and clear communication just as much as they do from applying paint. Before starting Kate Lee Painting, I spent several years assisting with the finishing work for a custom fine furniture business. That experience deepened my appreciation for craftsmanship, patience, and the small details that elevate a finished product. I've also received years of hands-on training and mentorship from an experienced professional painter. I continue to refine my skills by staying current on products, application techniques, and best practices, allowing me to provide clients with beautiful, durable finishes.
