Introduction

Could you use some support to help your child with their math homework? Many parents feel that they are not comfortable or well-versed in math, find that they end up struggling with their child when they attempt to help them, and may feel sad, angry, or ashamed that their efforts are not working. I am a math teacher and tutor with many years of experience. I treat each student as an individual, help students understand their homework so they can complete it, and share lots of fun things about math in the process. I work on Zoom, and most of my students are in the 5th through 10th grades. I would be happy to do a free consultation with you, to find out what help your child might need, and determine if we are a good fit to work together.

After being out of school for many years, I needed a refresher in algebra to help with a graduate level financial analytics course. Jilena responded very quickly to my request for help and was able to give me two lessons- on my schedule - in a very short time period. It helped me get through my final exam. If the need arises again, I'd not hesitate to call for more sessions. Her use of a virtual white board to show how she was solving equations was so helpful. She even followed up with me after my exam to ask how it went. Great experience.

Jilena comes to her classes fully prepared, and with a comprehensive understanding of the subject she's presenting that day. It's a pleasure to have a teacher that is so well organized and prepared for whatever questions may arise. What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I offer individual session at $50/hour, and also discounted packages of sessions: 10 1-hour sessions for $450 (you save 10%) and 20 1-hour sessions for $850 (you save 15%).
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I offer a free initial consultation with parents of school-age students or adult students. We talk about what the student may need, and how we could accomplish this.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I studied mathematics and English for my bachelor's degree, and I am a credentialed teacher in the state of Washington. I have been tutoring since I was in high school and have taught in multiple school districts in Washingon. I also have a Master's degree in Applied Behavioral Science, which has given me additional understanding of academic performance, social interactions, and job competencies.
