I've studied with some of the best voice teachers around, including George Peckham, and the Metoplitan Opera's Marcia Baldwin. My performance experience is vast, and includes everything from appearing on America's Got Talent, to singing with Seattle Opera.m, and founding Illumni Men's Chorale. Prior to becoming a full-time performer, I spent 10 years as a Speech and Debate Coach. As a voice teacher, my students have been nominated for Broadway World Awards, won the High School State Campionships, and have appeared on stages all over the area. I love to help people work with their voice - whether it's singing, speaking, and learning how to hear music! Singing is one of the most popular hobbies in America. I love to help people realize they -can- sing, and help seasoned pros bump up their game.

Almost twenty years ago, I stopped singing. I’m not sure why really, but other hobby passions took priority, and recently, I found myself yearning to be part of a community effort at ensemble singing. I realized with the prospect of auditioning that I felt completely unprepared for this task, having been away from singing for so long, so I took to Thumbtack in search of a voice coach/teacher to get me back on track. My search quickly found me in the music studio of Chris McCafferty. (Read previous statement as “I was lost, and now I’m found”). I couldn’t possibly be more pleased with Chris and his teaching style. He offers the optimal combination of encouragement and support, along with practical truths about my areas for improvement in relatable ways that I can understand, with a communication style that is both kind and actionable. In addition to expressing an exceptional teaching style, Chris is an amazing human being, and his goodness radiates from him. I recently had my first lesson with Mr. McCafferty. It was a challenge to find a teacher who teaches classical style singing, so I ended up relying on YouTube warm-ups/tutorials which isn't always ideal, especially since I don't have any guidance with what I may be doing wrong. I learned a lot about vocal physiology during our first session, and I also learned how to better my breath support, but it is still a work-in-progress. I look forward to more lessons with Mr. McCafferty.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Lessons are $45/30 minutes, $60 /45 minutes, and $75/an hour. 5-10% discounts are available on packages.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We sit down and go over goals, find out what you want to do, and go over your background. Then we hear you sing or speak, so I can offer the best advice, and make a plan to achieve those goals!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I studied Vocal Performance at Pacific Lutheran University, and Digital Scoring at EdCC. My voice teachers have included, Marcia Baldwin, George Peckham and Barry Johnson, and I studied conducting with Dr Richard Sparks and Kathryn Lehmann.
