Heath Foster Therapy
About
Many counselors offer couples therapy, but not all have been trained in it. I am a licensed marriage and family associate therapist and graduate of Antioch University School of Applied Psychology, Counseling and Family Therapy, where studying the nature of relationship strife and evidence-based ways to improve it are part of the curriculum.
I believe walking through life with someone at your side who you love and truly loves you is a gift. There is nothing better than seeing a couple rekindle the intimacy and connection in their relationship. Strange as it may sound, it is also rewarding to see two partners become clear about their reasons for not staying together. This opens the door two a connected future for both of them.

For pre-marital counseling, Heath has helped us lay a strong foundation for our relationship. She has, owing to her insightful guidance, given us tools for communications and conflict-resolution specific to the unique needs of our individual personalities and the ways in which those manifest in our relationship. Her attentiveness gave us great ease, helping us address our issues in a loving and compassionate manner. In short, she's an excellent couples' counselor and we highly recommend her.

Your commitment to having the most connected and loving partnership possible was an inspiration to me. It was a privilege to work with you both and I so appreciate the kind words.

My partner and I have had two sessions with Heath thus far in order to decide if we can decide together if we would like to both have children. She is not only good at listening and mirroring with clients, but she is good at teasing out the emotions that are sometimes hard to translate in real time. For example, she'll ask what emotions we are feeling and if we can't quite decide, she'll gives us words for emotions that maybe we hadn't thought of or processed it as. Though I don't know if this will "save" my relationship, I feel like Heath is helping us to make the most informed decision about where we should go in our relationship.

Heath is the best! We couldn't have been paired with a better fit. She is kind, professional, positive, intelligent, patient, warm and thoughtful. And stylish too :) Her sessions helped us tremendously from day 1 and we always look forward to our visits.

I have worked with Heath on a professional as well as on a personal level. She has the rare ability to fuse empathy, insight, knowledge into every interaction which makes the recipient of her focus feel valued, heard, and understood.

From the first moment I met with Heath I felt as if she was too affected by her past experiences with other clients to be open and objective, warm and welcoming with me. For example, my wife and I were scheduled to meet her for our initial visit, and we were both driving separately. When I showed up first (because I was always the timely one), Heath was apprehensive and very guarded, overly concerned about my wife's whereabouts, as if to infer there was some foul play involved for her absence. She had multiple levels of security and a nervous and judgmental heir about her. All in all, if you are looking for a counselor that completely sides with the female perspective, is somewhat of a "man hater", IMO, then Heath will probably work well for you. If not, run the other way, because her approach is very one-sided and all verbal and body language will leave you with much regret for being there.
I am happy to say, I did find another therapist much better suited for couples therapy.

My first priority is always to make my clients feel comfortable and accepted and to address any feelings that arise. I apologize if I made you feel uncomfortable in any way. But I want to assure you I am not gender biased and refrain from any such judgment. I take great joy in supporting men and women of all backgrounds and orientations in improving their relationships and creating more connected and rewarding partnerships. I am very glad to hear you found a therapist who could help you, but please feel free to reach out to me with any lingering concerns.
