- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I generally charge $25 an hour for my services. If I am required to travel, the rate may increase to compensate for my time.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I generally submit my quote to them with a short note and ask that the potential client contact me to discuss their need. Then, if it appears we are a good fit, I arrange to meet the client for a session.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
In terms of my ability to coach writing, I have a B.A. in English from Oberlin College, was a newspaper reporter and editor for five years, and I taught English, Public Speaking and Creative Writing to grades 7-12. I was also a peer tutor in college for the Rhetoric division of the English Department and earned not only credit but pay .I have also been the Clerk of the Board to a public transit board, a school board and a non-profit board of Trustees and in that role have produced a very large number of official and archival documents. I have been a professional writer for 25 years and have produced nearly every kind of writing product; minutes, memos, letters, newsletters, website copy, annual reports, board resolutions, policy papers, hard-news newspaper articles, opinion columns and feature stories, mission statements, etc. My professional roles have also included extensive editing and copy-editing. In terms of public speaking, I have coached public speakers of all ages and experience levels in both professional and volunteer venues. I am a seasoned public speaker, trainer and stage performer; I sing and act and I have emceed talent shows and fundraisers.
