They took care of so much. Trees were removed, bushed trimmed, the yard was weeded, edges where trimmed, and they installed fresh sod. They were very good with my hectic schedule. I would definitely recommend them.

Carlos did a wonderful job with the 3/4 removal of a tree located in a very tight spot between 2 city homes, whose branches also had grown into the power lines. This required a power drop and additional care and knowledge. He and his crew did the job for the price quoted, which was very reasonable, and left no branch behind! I was more than pleased with the work, will use Carlos Landscaping again, and will recommend him to anyone needing ANY type of lawn, land or tree care! :-)

Axel and his team responded to my request, and came over to our place to assess our roof/gutters on the very same day! They cleaned our gutters, applied moss removal, and addressed all of our roof related maintenance, without issue. They were a pleasure to work with, and we hope to work with them again in the future!

They came to mow; I showed them a diseased, dead tree & they dealt with removing the bad & trimmed tree so it looks excellent! Then they mowed, doubling back over some areas. It looks wonderful now AND the price was very reasonable- $100 for 2+ hours work & hauling it all away! Very professional & pleasant. I'd highly recommend them.

We just did a complete remodel of our backyard. It was literally torn down to nothing and rebuilt. The job involved removing existing patio, cutting down a tree, clearing all the plants, removing steps, leveling the whole yard, building retaining walls, fence, gates, laying a fairly large patio area with pavers, building a fire pit area with flagstone, drainage, sprinklers and planting. I hired G&E based on the reviews on thumbtack and I couldn't agree more with some of the reviews about their professionalism. They are easily among the best contractors I have worked with. Reliability, Punctuality, Accountability, Flexibility, and Quality are some of the key qualities I was looking for and they fit it perfectly. We are very happy with how our yard turned out and it is better than what we have envisioned. I would definitely hire Polo and team again for any future work. If you are looking to get any landscaping work, don't think twice about G & E.

Sheldon did some excellent work at our house. The garden areas look great and he also removed a small tree. I was a little worried about the project finishing by the day we agreed on but Sheldon and his crew stayed and worked late in order to finish on time. He is a man of his word.

I hired Thomas and his team for a "spring cleanup"; I had my weeds pulled, trees and hedges trimmed up and my lawn mowed and edged. The team was here on time and took care of everything in 2 days. It was so nice to not have to worry about how I was going to clean up my yard for the summer this year as I am working over 50 hours per week. Thank you so much you guys you did a fabulous job!!

BFF Junk Removal was super great to work with. They drove all the way from Tacoma to Shoreline and arrived in the window that I provided. They kept me updated via text along the way as well. It was super easy and worth it for me. Highly recommend this company.

Had very good experience with them. Their quote for removing a giant tree was great compared to what I found initially. Starting from initial phone call to finally grinding the stump everything went absolutely great. I would highly recommend them. They took care of everything. Removal of tree and debris. Awesome crew. They also promised that if I notice any trump piece left in ground they will come and take care of it for free.

Wonderful - will definitely call on again. I had a tedious job of removing a juniper. When he was out doing that work, I asked if he would have time to also trim and mow. All around he did a great, meticulous and professional job.

Shannon was my third professional estimate. I was very impressed with his knowledge and ability to explain exactly what my trees needed. Shannon and his crew arrived on time and worked diligently all day. His foreman made sure I was pleased with the job before leaving. All the crew were courteous, professional and cleaned all debis upon completion. If you’re in need of any kind of tree services I’d highly recommend Pacific Coast Tree Experts.

Dan has been outstanding. He is reliable, hard working, and thorough. Dan was hired just for lawn care but his talents extend way beyond. Dan has great ideas for improvements and his rates are very reasonable. A few additional jobs include tree removal, cleaning gutters and blackberry removal. We are currently discussing landscaping and long term maintenance once clearing is complete. My yard has never looked so nice! Dan does go above and beyond. - Nancy McHugh

Zake Becker is a terrific person and a great heavy equipment operator. He will get the job done and you will be pleased. He takes care and is very professional. We are very pleased with the quality of his work. He removed a very large, old Douglas fir stump and left the land in great shape.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to trim a tree?

The national price range for tree trimming is $270-$450. Tree trimming is often done by a professional arborist who is trained to safely trim and prune trees for both the health of the tree and the safety of the residents and their property. Trying to do your own tree trimming is not advisable unless you have the proper know-how. Tree trimming companies may charge an hourly rate for their services. The hourly rate may be higher or lower for different trees to reflect the relative safety measures, skill, equipment or people power needed to handle the job. For this reason, most tree services provide free estimates.

One example of an hourly rate for professional tree trimming services is $150 per hour. Costs may be under $100 or could be higher than $300 per hour, depending on variables such as proximity to buildings, health of the tree, height and diameter of the tree, and type of tree trimming desired. Geography and regional cost of living and regional costs to do business will also play a role in your tree removal costs.

How much does it cost to remove a tree stump?

Once you have a tree cut down, you’ll probably want to remove the tree stump as well. You may want the stump removed for aesthetics, the tree stump could be diseased, you might want to prevent regrowth, or you may find the roots are causing problems and need to be removed. Tree removal costs don’t always include the cost to grind out or dig out a tree stump after the tree has been felled and the trunk removed. The national average cost for stump removal ranges from $150 to $200. There are two main methods for dealing with tree stumps. In grinding, pros use a chipping machine to grind away the above-level tree stump until it sits just below the soil surface. Tree stump removal entails lifting the entire root ball of a tree out of the soil. Removing the stump will leave a hole in the ground and also take more time, labor and money than stump grinding. Here are some examples of average tree stump removal costs:

  • Stump grinding: $2-$4 per inch.
  • Tree stump removal: average of $60-$350.

The final price will depend on the stump’s size, condition, location and condition of the soil around it.

How much does it cost to remove a fallen tree?

If you need to have a tree cut down, have you planned what will happen next? Arborists often charge an additional fee to quarter and remove the fallen tree from your property, so anticipate this as part of your tree removal costs. You can elect to have the wood cut for use in your fireplace, or you may prefer to have it hauled away completely.

Tree removal costs may vary based on the height and the width of the felled tree. Size affects the labor required for removal, which will be reflected in the cost. For example, a tree service company may charge an additional $100-$120 to haul away the pieces of a felled tree. The service may cost as little as $75 in some regions and more than $150 in others. Regional labor rates, the cost of living and the cost to do business in your area will be reflected in your tree removal cost.

How much does it cost to cut a tree down?

When you’re ready to have a tree on your property come down, it’s time to call an arborist. The national average price range for tree-trimming costs is $270-$450. Tree removal costs can vary based on the height, diameter, location and health of the tree, and on whether you want to remove the stump. Height plays a major role in tree removal costs. Small trees, no more than 30 feet tall, are usually thinner in diameter and easier and safer for an arborist to manage. Removal of a small tree can cost anywhere from under $150 to over $450. Removal of medium-height trees, from 30 feet to 60 feet tall, could cost anywhere between $150 and $850 or more. Tall trees, typically 60 feet to 80 feet tall, may start at $500 or cost more than $1,000 to cut down. As the height and diameter increase, so does the cost.

Location is critical, too. Removing a tree in an open space is quicker and presents fewer obstacles than removing a tree that is growing flush to your house. Arborists can assess your tree and provide you with quotes based on the variables involved. For example, removing a medium-size hackberry tree that was growing too close to a home — the roots were damaging the home’s foundation — cost $1,500. This price included rope-down, house protection, tree quartering and stacking, and stump removal.

How much does it cost to cut down a massive tree?

If you have to remove a big, beautiful tree from your property, you’ll definitely need an arborist. Cutting down a massive tree without the proper tools or training can lead to major property damage or injury. A huge tree may need to be removed if it is diseased or dying and poses a safety risk, has suffered a blow from a storm and isn’t safe, or is growing into your home, your home’s foundation, your septic system, or your power lines. Removal costs for such large trees will depend on the tree’s height, diameter, and relative safety and accessibility, as well as whether you also need the felled tree and stump removed. The bare minimum for removal of a tree over 75 or 80 feet would be $1,000. This may not include tree quartering and removal or stump grinding. Stump grinding ranges on average from $2 to $4 per inch of the stump’s diameter. There is no set price as each situation is unique, so it’s always best to have an arborist give you a quote and detail exactly which services are included in the price.
