Kathy provides horseback riding lessons for my daughter. She is a great teacher and really shares her love of horses with all the students. I like how much time my daughter gets to spend with the animals and how she has learned the responsibility of taking care of her horse. The trail rides are so fun! Also, Kathy was able to find a small group for my daughter to be a part of - this makes the lesson fun for her and more cost effective for me!!
My daughter has been riding at Highland ridge 9 years.....Sarah has a gift working with riders. Most importantly, we are a family there. When you walk in the barn you’re met with a friendly “hi” and whatever is stressing you melts away. I highly recommend!
I posted on Thumbtack on Friday. Bridget replied immediately. By the next day we drove out to meet her for a private lesson for our 4 1/2 year old horse enthusiast daughter. Bridget, her husband Neil, and her son Patrick (as well as Drip, the perfect gentleman pony) were absolutely amazing!!! We honestly couldn't have asked for a better first experience for our little one! We will definitely be continuing lessons with Bridget!
Allison is kind, patient and knowledgeable, and she really cares about her horses like family members! Looking forward to many more enjoyable lessons!
Market Hill Farm is a wonderful facility with outstanding horses and a fantastic instructor; Kris Yankula. Her experience and training has helped me develop my riding and jumping to a competitive level. I've also had the pleasure of boarding horses with her for over a year. I couldn't recommend a better farm for riders of any level!
Super friendly environment, and they seem to be a very supportive and kind place to ride! Once I have the funds, I'll be starting lessons!
Jen brings a vast amount of horsemanship, teaching capability, and spirit to every lesson. She not only teaches you riding skills, but helps you to understand the horse. She is very passionate about her trade and is a lot of fun to ride with and be taught by!
I started working and taking lessons from Anita many years ago and shortly after I started half-leasing one of her horses. When I started riding at A.N.D. Stables I knew how to get on a horse and just ride around. What I didn't know was the correct and proper way to effectively ride. Since then she has taught me many techniques and has improved my riding skills significantly. From what I have learned from Anita in the past years I have grown as a rider and also have become very successful at shows. I can go into a class with over 30 entries and win the entire class. She has increased my confidence level as well as my knowledge and willingness to learn and gain more experience. I would highly recommend A.N.D. Stables to anybody pursuing lesson instruction, training, or boarding.
My daughter has been riding with Roses to Reins for the last two years. Diane took a girl who was scared to try anything to a confident rider who is always looking for a new challenge.
The lesson was very good she taught me new information and skills. Was direct but kind. I have set up several lesson for the remainder is the summer.
I was a young rider who stopped when thrown from an 18 hand horse....that said, I was nervous to find the right fit getting "back in the saddle"! I explored many websites in amd near the Chicago and northern suburbs looking for a stable that would not only be considerate of my history of a scary tumble, but also be assertive in helping me learn how to be a better rider. I used Thumb tack and almost immediately got a response from Katy @ McGrath. She was professional, poised, amd passionate about taking a customized approach to be regaining my level of comfort. I was blown away to see at my first lesson how clean and vast the arenas were, and that Ken himself was there to meet me and assist in my setup. A few lessons in I'm already feeling comfortable enough to be off the lunge for the majority of the hour, amd Katy couldn't be more patient and knowledgeable as to how my adjustments as we transition will build my basics....and hopefully get to competition or show level!!! I highly recommend Katy and McGrath Stables for anyone looking for a personalized approach and warm environment.
"Quality in Performance, Dedication, Achievement, and Excellence" -- These are the tenets of Christopher K. Taylor's riding and training philosophy that resulted from his studies with some of the world's most prominent American and European dressage experts. Chris is passionately committed to classical training, always striving for lightness, balance and harmony with a unique instructional style for both the horse and the rider. He asks a little at a time and praises often. The result has been happy, highly motivated horses and riders who can focus, as partners, on learning their art. Chris stresses "basics, basics, basics" and small incremental steps. He has observed that when horses derail in dressage, even at the highest levels, it is usually because the basic foundation has been ignored. He strongly believes that regardless of the discipline, any horse and rider will reap the benefits from dressage. This philosophy has proven its value for both Chris and his students. Chris has competed internationally at the FEI Grand Prix levels, has been FEI Champion in Prix St. Georges, and was selected to represent Bermuda at the 1999 Pan American Games. Lessons are offered from beginner through FEI. Chris also has regularly scheduled buying trips to Europe which clients can attend. All that is needed is a passport and a plane ticket. Lodging and transportation are provided.

Beth has been riding horses since she was very small. She realized from a young age that her purpose here on Earth was to help horses. She learned from various riders and trainers over the years and started training young horses under saddle when she turned 18. She then started working with horses that owners deemed unrideable and retrained them to become safe and willing partners. Now at the age of 32, she has started and retrained lots of horses of all breeds, ages, and personalities. She also have worked with horses who have had fear issues and horses with dominance issues. She has used many methods throughout the years, but what has always worked the best is listening to what the horse has to say and adjusting her methods based on the individual. Beth's proven and effective training methods and education programs for all equestrian disciplines will help produce a successful team. Whether starting a weanling to lead, training a 2-year old to have a solid foundation, or continuing with any horse to a higher level, she can help. She combines her expertise in education, horsemanship, horse behavior, communication, and specific skills to educate horses and their owners how behavior and movement affect performance and partnership between horse and rider. Beth's philosophy, education, and intuition help guide horse and rider to understand and communicate with each other. She has the ability to work with all ages from the young child with the pony to the senior rider with the trail riding companion. Whatever your discipline or your questions, she has the experience and the ability to help you achieve your goals and dreams! Whether you are considering riding lessons or thinking of training to compete in shows, trail riding or any discipline you have chosen as your goal, working with Beth can help you attain those goals and dreams that you have with your horse companion. She will advance your skills and understanding of your horse and their behavior far beyond what just practice can do. She will guide you and your horse into a "confident" working relationship through behavior modification, persistence in education and a respectful working relationship that is so important in attaining your goals.
I have been training in a classical balanced seat method for over 10 years. With various experiences in horses for over 20 years, I started with a BS in Equine Management from Midway College in Kentucky. Since then, I have continued to further my classical education by studying with such notable trainers as Cathy Wieschhoff , Jeurgen Helmut, Jessica Stark, Kim Barteau and Enrique Martinez. Currently I am studying with Marijke de Jong. For a number of years I taught Equine Studies at Kishwaukee Community College and was involved in development of the "Festival Of the Horse & Drum" held annually at the Kane County Fairgrounds.
