FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I stay abreast of the ever-changing field by seeking out mentors in the industry. In the past year, I've had opportunity to work and learn with photographers who have photographed presidents, and major stars like Carrie Underwood. In the off season, I enjoy networking with peers, taking technical seminars and studying professional periodicals. I also keep up with trends in wedding photography and look for ways to incorporate the best with my unique style.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
There are plenty of photographers out there advertising services. If photography is an important part of your wedding, make sure the photographer you choose is truly professional--with education and strong background. Ask for client referrals and entire sample weddings. Look carefully at their portfolio images--these are the photos they feel are their very best. Look closely at the details in these images, like composition and lighting. Look critically at other issues, such as how the background works with the subject. When you see a photographer's portfolio, ask questions about images you like, and also ask about the ones you don't like so much.
