I have an old desktop computer that we basically use to surf the web and store photos, music, and video. It had not been waking up from sleep mode for quite some time. Since we weren't using it much we debated repair for quite some time. I called Brad at Aloka to see what they thought. He said they would take a look and within hours he picked the computer up at my house. They worked on it immediately. I have a limited knowledge of our system but Brad was really great. He communicated well thru email and was able to solve our issue extremely fast. I told him he could take as long as he needed (we operate day to day using our iPad) but he had the computer returned to us within 48 hours. I am sure it would have been the next day but I gave him an email address I didn't check for over 24 hours. This was a really great experience. I am used to corporate IT where you are not viewed as the customer and timelines are meaningless. Aloka exceeded my expectations. I should also mention the price was incredible. Had this repair been expensive I would have just junked the old desktop. Our final price was under $100. This is the point I should remind you that they picked the unit up at my house and dropped it off. Really great job.

The "L" key on my Sony lap top (3 years old) simply would not function any longer despite cleaning, etc. I called all the local computer repair shops and they were backlogged for weeks due to the expiration of windows XP and then I spoke to Brad at Aloka Tech. He was both helpful and friendly and because they do all their work in your home or office, he told me as soon as the part (a new keyboard) could be found and arrived, he would get it installed and for a very reasonable price I might add. Despite repeated difficulties with a supplier getting the part, he stayed with it and 2 weeks later sent a very efficient and friendly technician to my home and the repair was made in just a few minutes. He kept me apprised of the progress in his search for my part as it went along, and rescheduled the repair several times when the supplier was late in getting him the promised delivery. I can give my highest support for his work, and would recommend him and his people to anyone looking for computer repair/support.

With School around the corner I reached out to Brad on very short notice as the computer I purchased 2 years ago was overtaken by viruses. With both my Children needing to have access to the internet to complete homework assignments I needed a fix asap that didn't involve me purchasing a new computer. Brad happened to be in the area when I called and personally stopped by and picked up my computer. He checked in with me that evening and said it was going to take some time. For me, take some time is 2-3 days or up to a week. Brad had the computer returned to me the following day working like it did the first day I purchased it. He took time to explain to me the issues it had as well as made the corrections needed so I do not run into this again. He offered up a couple solutions, backups in general, that would not break the bank to ensure that the pictures and documents that are saved on my computer will never be in jeopardy again. Brad never tried to up sell me on anything, which I was appreciative of. He gave me options of free solutions as well as "pay as you go solutions".

I have always stored ALL of my photos and documents on an external hard drive, thinking that this was the safest place to keep these items. I was absolutely devastated when I discovered that the hard drive wouldn't register on any computer and that is was essentially broken. I had absolutely no idea that this could happen. I asked Brad to take a look and see if any of the items could be salvaged. I didn't have high hopes as I had several folks tell me that the same thing happened to them and there was nothing that could be done. Miraculously, Brad recovered ALL of my documents!!! I was beyond thrilled! I will now be taking his advice and keeping them safe on the cloud! I am so thankful to have all of these precious memories back!

How did you get started doing this type of work?
I always loved computers since I was a little kid. I couldn't keep my hands off them. I went into law enforcement, but my interest for computers remained high. I worked for a couple telecommunication companies in the Madison area in the late 1990's, and then started a web hosting business in 1999 that took off and was very successful. We also did IT work for many local businesses. In Jan 2011 I sold the hosting company and started Aloka Tech Computer Services in the Madison area. So here we are. :)
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Make sure to ask questions. What is your "on site" rate? Are you insured? Do you guarantee your work? And the most important question is how long will it take to fix my problem? We fix 99% of problems on the spot without needing to wait days, and sometimes weeks for your computer to be fixed.
