FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I offer a single massage fee, but many clients need at least a few sessions to resolve an issue. That is why I offer discounts for purchase of 3, 5 and 10 massage packages. I also offer discounts for yoga/massage packages. I teach at our local botanical gardens twice weekly.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Resolving your issues is my main concern. My approach is to begin with learning from your experience of the problem and using clinical reasoning to evaluate the condition and develop a plan to treat the pain. I start with soothing relaxation to reduce stress and surface tension in muscles. Relaxing muscle tension allows me to work on the specific muscles which means more precise work getting to the muscle(s) that are causing the issue. This allows me to treat with as little discomfort as possible. Finally, I offer stretches and self-treatment options for you so that you can speed up recovery by developing habits at home that will eliminate the problem as soon as possible. Having been a therapist and yoga instructor for many years, I know that the goal is to relax muscle tension and pain. It is important, therefore, to truly relax muscles, not cause more distress as a result of a massage.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Over the years, I have worked both clinically and as a yoga instructor. I also have a great deal of experience as an educator to both children and adults. That is why I focus on interviewing clients and education on what is going on and self-treatment options. I spend a lot of time outside of work to educate myself on pain issues and how to treat them efficiently and without unnecessary pain.
