Gilbert's Painting did an excellent job! He was very thorough and efficient. We not only had painting that needed to be done, but also some drywall repair and he did both at an extremely reasonable price. He came back the day after he was finished just to make sure we were completely satisfied, which is very rare these day. I would recommend Gilbert to anyone.

We hired Above Standard Painting Co. to paint the exterior of our house (brick and steel siding). They were very thorough to ensure the entire house was power washed and what was supposed to receive paint did while the rest was protected. Nic and his colleagues were all friendly, professional, and flexible because of weather conditions.

Tim and his guys remodeled the bathroom in a 150 year old farmhouse. This meant lead abatement measures, moving a load-bearing wall and rearranging the ceiling vent, walls and the plumbing to fit the new but still small room. He used excellent plumbers and an electrician but did the rest of the work himself including tile, drywall, and the finishwork including a wood cabinet and built-in mirrored medicine chest. Answered my questions, helped with the decisions that needed to be made. Polite, prompt, called and emailed as needed. Always cleaned up after themselves. The work was expensive but worth it because it is a beautifully done professional job showing craftsmanship and some unique features. I love this new bathroom.

Peter worked for me this last year remodeling a basic building in to an awesome looking Retail Store. He framed out and finished the bathroom, office and Kitchenette areas. He also did the electrical wiring inside and out on the whole building. He hung 7 large windows and a French front door after he removed a 16ft. garage door. Peter did a beautiful job tiling the bathroom floor, so I also had him do a bathroom in a rental. He Hung drywall and finished the showroom. Then he prepared the outside of the shop for Stone veneer. Peter takes great pride in his work and pays attention to details. Always thinking and very creative. We were working without a print, basically design as you go and he seemed to really enjoy the challenge. He's a very organized and clean worker. If he doesn't know something he will research and learn before he moves forward. I did not have to be there to get things done. We would meet make a plan for the day and I went about doing other business. I knew Peter would be on time and get the job done to my expectations or better. Peter's truly a great person who has raised a fine family, very disciplined and respectful. Peter's intelligence, eye for detail and quality of work make him stand above the others.

After 8 quotes for a fence from local fence companies and contractors, I came across thumbtack and figured I would give it a try. Almost immediately entering my info Joe reached out. I was immediately impressed with his professionalism and timely quote. He actually included the exact material quote showing exactly what materials along with how much everything cost. He was the clear winner. I was pretty specific with the timeframe, and he got it done. He stayed on budget as promised, and was great with communication throughout the project. Joe completed a 90+ foot privacy fence with a beautiful gate that crosses my driveway. I recommend Joe Mahas and Native Remodels without hesitation.

I had the good fortune of discovering Roerdink Remodel through a business associate in the spring of 2017. At the time, what I needed was a handyman for a new investment property, and Dan Roerdink quickly showed his skill, professionalism, timeliness, insight, and good humor. Since then, I've purchased another investment property, this time a 2-Family, and Dan has become my right-hand man. He's done everything from plaster repair to custom carpentry, light electrical to plumbing, custom door framing / cutting / installation, window replacement, painting and lighting. Dan is truly an excellent contractor, a cut above the rest. Several of my clients in Property Management are now hiring him as well, with equally impressive results. If you're fortunate enough to find Dan with time in his schedule for your project, I would seize the opportunity! Feel free to contact me via Facebook for my business with any questions or to confirm the veracity of this review. - Kurt P. Coffin, Owner of Summit Property Management of Sheboygan.

Ed and his team did an amazing job building out our cement basement into a completely finished area including large bedroom, bath, family room and kitchenette area! Their bid and actual figures for the 1200 sq ft build-out were spot on and they exceed their own timeline, start to finish in 29 days! Ed is a very trustworthy person and he was on site almost every day which was great to see, and if he wasn't on site then we communicated by phone. You don't see or hear about experiences like this too often these days but for new Wisconsinites like our family from the west coast we couldn't have picked a better person, leader, and contractor to work with! I have recommended and referred Ed and his team to several of my neighbors as well as co-workers which says a lot. He's upfront, honest and will tell you whether or not something is possible to accommodate which is exactly what I expected, of which he delivered. All said and done, an awesome job was completed in a timely manner with cost almost to a tee. How can you go wrong in a situation like this? The answer is that you can't. Thank you and your team, Ed, for a GREAT job! Justin and family

I needed a large electrical project done. I just bought a rental house and needed the electrical updated. They outdid themselves. The project was ran by Cameron. And when I say they are brilliant at what they do. They brought out 5 electricians and rewired my whole house. I already passed my rough-in inspection and im waiting for my drywallers to finish for them to install the fixtures. The best part, it cost $15,000 plus materials... and that's including demotilition. Imagine. A 4 bedroom house, bathroom, dining room, kitchen, family room, spare room in the basement and an additional breaker panel. WOW!!! Everyone else was quoting me between 18,000 and 25,000!!!!

Final Touch Interiors believes in setting the standard for what a painting company should be for customers. Here are some ways that we make ourselves different from other painting companies: 1. We work around your schedule. Right from your first phone call well set up an appointment that's convenient for you. Work during the day? That's okay. Got kids to pick up or drop off? No problem - we make appointments for evenings and weekends too. 2. When we meet with you, we listen. Part of getting the job done properly is understanding what our customer wants. We'll find out what you need and what your goal is for the transformation of your space and make it happen on your budget and in your time frame. 3. Our estimates are clear and straightforward. We outline the work we will do, from prep to painting and the exact products we will use so you know exactly what you're getting. Bottom line: the price we quote you is the price you pay with no surprises. 4. Our team is professional. Not only do we know the best way to paint in your space, we know that we're guests in your home. Our painters are uniformed, polite, and proficient. 5. We care about your health and the environment. Part of our commitment to our customers, our crew, our families and our community is to embrace green products, whenever possible. We offer and encourage the use of low and zero VOC paints and products. 6. Our quality is unbeatable. Our work speaks for itself. Straight cut lines, beautiful walls, smooth finishes on our trim, invisible repairs and a job that leaves the competition in our rear view mirror. 7. Quality control is our secret weapon. What makes us stand apart from the next guy more than anything? Our quality control throughout the entire process means we aren't leaving it up to you to find deficiencies. All we want you to see are the beautiful results. 8. We Clean Up. We always leave your house the way it was when we first arrived. Furniture is moved, painting supplies are cleaned up and there's no sign that we were ever there (besides the new paint job.) True story: we have even been known to vacuum paint scrapings off the lawn. 9. A warranty that means something. Many contractors offer warranties that have so much fine print and exclusions, you wonder why they even bother. We do it differently. Our warranty is simple: if there is a problem, we fix it at no cost to you. Period.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much will it cost to fix a hole in the wall?

If you have a hole in your wall, don’t despair; drywall repair professionals can patch the hole and repaint the surface and no one will be the wiser. The cost to repair a drywall hole depends on the size of the surface area of the damage, the materials and labor required, and (for a minor repair) any minimum service fee the repair company may charge. The actual labor and drywall prices may be lower than the minimum service fee, but pros must ensure their business overhead costs are met when they go out on minor jobs. To help keep costs low once the pros get there, make sure you have the right paint on hand if you want them to do to a touch up after the repair is complete, so you don’t keep them wait (and charging you for their time) while you search in the garage. Here are two examples of average prices for smaller drywall repair jobs:

    • Approximate cost to repair a 5-foot crack in a wall: $125 (labor $75 and materials $50).
    • Approximate cost to repair a 3-foot ceiling crack: $150.

What is the difference between sheetrock and drywall?

People sometimes use the terms “sheetrock” and “drywall” interchangeably, but they are not exactly the same. Drywall is the industry term for prefabricated sheets of wall, while Sheetrock is the brand name of a type of drywall. Depending on what room is being built, your drywall installation pro will select different thicknesses or grades of drywall. Standard residential drywall is ½-inch thick. Garage walls adjacent to a living space are typically ⅝-inch thick and serve as a firewall. For a garage ceiling, most contractors will use firewall-grade drywall materials to keep your home as safe as possible.

Different types of drywall can be color-coded to indicate their purpose. Purple or green drywall boards are often mold-resistant (MR) and are applied where moisture tends to accumulate, such as in bathrooms and basements or behind tile backsplashes at sinks. These mold-resistant sheets have a fiberglass instead of a paper facing finish to prevent water absorption. Regular drywall is gray or white. The drywall industry is constantly adapting with technology to provide safer and more targeted materials. You can even install soundproofing drywall to help prevent noise transfer through rooms.

How much does it cost to put up drywall?

The national average cost to hire a drywall installation professional ranges $375-$1,500, depending on the job at hand and where you are in the country. Your drywall installation cost will often be lower if the professional is installing the drywall in a new construction with open access as opposed to a remodel. The square footage of the job, the amount of materials, and the labor required also determine drywall prices. According to drywall pros, materials costs can range from 15 percent to 50 percent of your total project cost, depending on the work you’re having done. Request several quotes from drywall installation companies to find the right fit for your construction project. The quotes may be based on the company’s standard cost per square foot or a calculation of the time estimated to complete the job plus the size of the job plus materials and any travel fees. For example, drywall installation for one or two standard-size rooms could cost $900-$1,500. The cost to hang and tape an outbuilding with approximately 40 drywall sheets at 75 cents per square foot could total $1,450, including 3.75 days of labor for the drywall crew.

How much does it cost to repair drywall?

The national average price range to repair drywall is $210-$300. Drywall prices can vary greatly depending on the size of the hole or crack that needs repair, the amount of materials required, and other factors. Cracks can appear at the seams in your drywall due to uncontrollable factors like your house settling or even minor earthquakes. Drywall, although sturdy, will break with enough impact, so if a dresser falls and crashes into a wall or your have a mishap hammering in nails for artwork, you could need drywall repair. Drywall repair professionals may have a minimum service fee of $100-$150 regardless of the size of the job. This ensures that their business expenses are met anytime they send their crew out to a job. Here are some additional examples of average drywall repair prices:

    • Sand and texture five wall patches: $200 (45 minutes of labor and $40 of materials).
    • Repair a 4x8 section of wall: $225 (labor $150 and materials $75).
    • Replace drywall in an entire bedroom: $1,500 (price varies depending on the number of windows, whether there’s metal trim, etc.).
Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
