Introduction: I have been an artist, art teacher for the last 15 years. I have a BFA from The School of Visual Arts, New York, NY and an MFA in animation. I have worked with Children of Elementary School ages, Middle School and High School. I also teach Adults. I am also a full time artist and I have my own studio. I teach at my studio, drawing, painting, animation and illustration etc.. I give private and group lessons I am extremely dedicated to my students work and I work hard with them to grow in their own style. I am a muralist as well and can tackle any subject. I do commissioned art work of any kind and I am also a children's book illustrator. I have had shows in New York, Miami Beach and The Bay Area. I also participate in the East Bay Studio walk. Please think of me as your artist, art teacher and creator! I have lived and loved creating art since I can remember. It is my life and my passion, I grew up in Brooklyn, NY, so the art world was at my fingertips. I lived in museums went to the best art schools and dedicated myself to creation. I adore the interaction of teaching and watching my students begin to have a passion and love for the arts as much as I do. For me it has been a life pursuit. Debbie is a natural art educator- she is wonderful with children of all ages! She taught my daughter to improve her artistic skills in an after school class one to one, and showed her how to feel confident about herself. I have several children's books that Deborah Shilling has illustrated and they are wonderful! My favorite "Sago, A Very Special Service Dog". Not only is the story great and informative but the illustrations are fantastic and so well done. My children loved the book and I would highly recommend it.

I am an adult who wants to continue developing my painting ability & to find my true 'personal style.' Debbie understood immediately what I wanted to do & gave me suggested daily sketching exercises to begin this process of discovery. Debbie is an open & friendly woman with loads of artistic talent. What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
When I work with a customer I listen to what it is that they want to do or have done. If they want classes we can set up a convenient time and schedule our first class. Then we get started. If I meet a client that wants Illustration work done or murals done. I listen to what they want to have done, then I will produce sketches for the job to be approved by the client. After approval I will begin the project. I always listen to my clients and I am very professional in my work.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Bachelor of Fine Arts from The School of Visual Arts in New York, and I have a Master of Fine Arts in Illustration and Animation from The University of Miami, Miami, Florida.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
I have been an artist and creating artwork for most of my life. I teach art to Children, Teens and Adults. I am a muralist and I do commissioned artwork.
