Virginia Okinawan Karate
About this pro
25 years in business
In the short time that I have been training at Virginia Okinawan Karate, I've learned so much about kata and how every movement has a practical application. Sensei teaches in a fun, motivating way. The upper belts are always willing to stay around after class to help you. While my schedule is busy, every minute of training with Sensei and the class is invigorating and motivating. I've trained for more than 10 years in other styles and recently just came back to martial arts. I am so grateful to have found this place. I highly recommend training at Virginia Okinawan Karate. The class structure and curriculum is ideal for adult practitioners. You'll have fun and learn practical self defense skills.Feb 14, 2017

- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?Try your 3 FREE Trial Classes! Then enjoy low monthly fees with no additional/hidden charges. We have a two-fee, no contract payment system. Regular members attend 2 or 3 classes per week and after 6 months have the option of an attending an additional Thursday class at no extra charge. The few attending class only once per week pay 1/3 less per month than the regular members. Enjoy generous military, police and fireman discounts. - What is your typical process for working with a new customer? We introduce you to the class and you begin doing/learning the same techniques as more advanced students. We don't expect you to know anything. Soon one of the senior ranked students will work with you to go over and learn the basic techniques. Soon you realize you can do many of the techniques and you also notice you have become a member of our karate family and are having as much fun as the rest of the class!
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I have been a direct student of Grandmaster Seikichi Iha, 10th Degree, since 1979 and am now an 8th Degree karate master. During overseas diplomatic tours, I taught self defense karate to USMarines, Embassy Security Personnel, foreign security operatives, and people just like you. I am on the National and East Coast Regional Beikoku Shidokan Karate Black Belt Examination Committees.
