Jeet Kune Do
This is the approach to combat that was founded and developed by the legendary martial artist, Bruce Lee (1940-1973), during his lifetime. This scientific street-fighting art is designed to work in real situations involving empty-hand combat. It synthesizes combative principles, training methods, techniques, and philosophies researched and complied by Lee during his lifetime with emphasis on the five ranges of attack: single direct attack (SDA), hand immobilization atack (HIA), attack by combination (ABC), progressive indirect attack (PIA), and attack by drawing (ABD).
Filipino Martial Arts
This is the term that we use for the various Filipino fighting arts of kali, escrima, and arnis. The Filipino arts originate from the Philippine Islands and represent a diverse group of fighting systems that were developed as practical responses to situations faced by the people there, emphasizing on weapons, including sticks, knives, umbrellas, etc.
Our teaching method is to instruct students with the four key principles: fit, fun, functional and fast. Classes are usually one hour in in length and consist of the following:
* warm up
* stretching
* training new techniques
* reviewing previously learned techniques
* cardio/conditioning
* light to medium sparring
Instruction is either one-on-one or in small groups, which is excellent for working professionals. Past clients include designers, programmers, actors, athletes, students and lawyers.
Our philosophy is to teach martial arts so the students can express themselves honestly in other aspects of their life.
Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.
