FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
$15-$20 for dog walking (depends on size and special needs). $5 extra for administering meds or other special needs. $25-$40 per 24 hour period for boarding at my home, including pick up and drop off. $5 extra for administering meds or other special needs. House/Apartment Cleaning: $75-$200 This depends on size of home and level of cleaning required. I supply cleaning products and prefer to use Mrs. Meyers, Murphy's Wood products and Bar Keepers Friend or Bon Ami for necessary scrubbing. I will use other products at owner's request.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Home visits are critical for any pet sitting, boarding or walking. I want to make sure that I am a good fit with your pets. And if I will be boarding a pet at my home, I would like them to meet my dog, Riley. He really likes cats, but if your cat doesn't like dogs, it probably won't work out. It will also help me determine what a fair price is based on the size and/or special needs of a particular critter. It is not as critical to set up a house or apartment visit but it can be helpful. I trust the client to give me accurate details about their needs.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Thirty years of caring for dogs, 20 years caring for horses and 5 years caring for cats is my training. I have owned and cared for others' dogs for most of my life. I learned to ride horses when I was very young and have owned dogs for as long as I can remember. The most I have owned at 1 time was 5 dogs: an English Cocker Spaniel, an American Cocker Spaniel, a Jack Russell Terrier, a Golden Retriever and a Whippet. To me, hands on experience with animals is the most beneficial way of learning about them. You cannot learn how to walk a dog or ride a horse from a book.
