FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Between $25/hr and $45/hr based on the project, tools and skills needed. I can give a fixed amount for larger jobs too if hourly is not preferred. A small furniture move could be as low as $35. If a small plumbing or electrical fix takes me ten minutes, I will only charge $35 flat.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Talk through or walk through the job. Discuss needs, options, time frame and budget they are working with. Most small jobs I give a solid estimate rather than hourly. I will let them know if I can do the job alone to save money or if I need a helper. If I need a helper, I have a few I can count on. If a job is above my skill level I will be honest and suggest they hire someone else. I don't bid on jobs I don't know how to do.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Years of plumbing training with my dads plumbing company. A mechanical engineering degree from UT Austin. Lots of on the job training as a handyman for two years now. I worked for moving companies and learned the best tools and methods to move furniture efficiently and with no damage (Three moving companies still hire me now and then when they need extra part-time help)
