FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My prices are compatible with the standards of freelance copyediting and editing prices in the market today. Even though every piece requires different amount of time and expertise depending on how developed it is, I always provide detailed break down of how I calculate my prices. For Tutoring, I do not charge for the first session. I do believe that finding the right teacher is very important and it's client's right to be able to put the chemistry and the student-teacher dynamic into test first.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I require a brief time to look over the document in order to draw the contract. After establishing an agreement on the price and due dates, I send the client a copy of the first draft along with questions I might have. (This process takes different amount of time depending on the word count.) If these questions are more than what could be answered via email, I will require a phone call so I can clarify all the details. Once, I have all the information, I will send the client a final draft with Watermarks. At this stage, if the client is satisfied with the work and does not require any more work, I request that the payment be sent via Venmo or PayPal. As soon as I receive the payment, I will confirm it and send the client a final copy in PDF or Words format and with no Watermarks.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a bachelor's degree in journalism with minor in women's studies from UMass Amherst and a Masters in Nonfiction Writing from Goucher College. To quote Margaret Laurence, "When I say work, I only mean writing. Everything else is just odd jobs." I have been freelancing and publishing my writing in forms of blog and op-ed columns since 2007.
