FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
That I am not always the cheapest guy or the most expensive but you most definitely will get what you pay for. I try to stay on an average number to keep it fair for everyone. But sometimes when custom work is being done the price can go up because of many different variables. I'm very easy to deal with and negotiate with because I'm just a hard working honest man trying to earn an honest living!
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
go to their home or project, get a visual on the scope of work being asked, take measurements and pictures, try to come to an agreement, sometimes I have to go back to the office to figure out the numbers but then come to an agreement, type up a contract done by my secretary, send it to the customer, they sign I sign, they put a down payment depending on the scope sometimes 1/2 sometimes 1/3, then the work begins.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Well I just have a high school diploma because I started building homes when I was 14 yrs old so by the time I was 18 I was already making pretty good money and loved what I was doing so I decided to just keep doing what I loved doing. I was a union carpenter in Chicago, IL for 8yrs and all i had to do was pass a test to buy my card. When I took that test it was everything you had to know inorder to become a journeyman carpenter and I got a 93% on the test so the union did not require me to do an apprenticeship because of the knowledge I already had. I've learned quite a bit over the years from some very knowledgeable and skillful older predecessors and also from guys with little to no skills by showing me what not to do. Lol I believe I still learn new ways in how to do different things and I can appreciate that because I feel we all can always get better at what we do in life, its how we grow. So I'll never claim to know it all but I can say Ive been train with some very impressive skills. Skills I wouldn't trade for the world!
