About this pro
I have a proven record of success improving students' grades and test scores. My specialties include academic support in English Language Arts & the Social Sciences. I prepare students for the verbal sections of standardized tests such as the SAT, ACT, and SSAT. In addition, I have extensive experience helping students write essays and research papers. My degree in English from Harvard University as well as my Master's in Education make me uniquely qualified for tutoring. My overarching goal is develop positive relationships with my students so that they enjoy learning and are motivated to do well. I'm knowledgeable, patient, and kind. Most importantly, I am genuinely invested in my students' success.
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)? My pricing is always fair! It's usually based on an hourly rate. But, if the job is project-based, there's a flat fee. The amount varies depending on several factors, including the frequency of meetings. I do offer a discount prepayment option.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?First, we have an extensive phone conversation to determine how I can best help you. Then we schedule our first lesson, which includes a brief evaluation and we get to work!
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?Harvard University B.A. in English; Lesley University Master's in Education; over 25 years of experience, including classroom teaching, school administration, and private tutoring; Adjunct Professor of English Composition & American Literature; and published author. Most importantly, I'm extremely patient and conscientious.
