FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Uncle Brian's takes the time to do the job properly, so to be honest - you can usually get the job done at a cheaper price. BUT, getting it done at a lower cost and getting it done to the same high standard - probably not. I've met thousands of nice folks over the decades and have heard hundreds of stories of how folks were mistreated by contractors or how a particular project was not run well or how it turned out - not as expected. This story line does not have to be your story - do your research before hiring a company to work on your Biggest investment (your Home) and then Enjoy the experience. Quality craftmanship takes time / an Awesome Design takes thought and planning / getting the Right materials to the jobsite and Installed properly and without damage is an art. Keeping the **costs under control and on budget is important - but skimping during the renovation process always shows up in the end and leaves folks with a less than satisfied feeling. ** We keep our Costs "under control" by minimizing the use of Subs, when we use a specialty company (plumber) we let them know we want the job done right with no messing around, and then we clean up after the subs to get them off our clock and yours, more quickly. We also shop the market place constantly - looking for the Best possible price for our Clients. Our 15% market up is usually canceled out because of our ability to buy at Lower prices than our Customers. Final thought - year after year, project after project - we hear of our customers' who are appreciative of the work performed and surprised at the attention to detail Uncle Brian's Home Improvements brings to the table. I've received emails and calls of past customers letting us know that a project we did was the main selling point of their recently sold home. This makes us happy knowing we not only built their Kitchen or Bathroom - But we also improved their Lives and Bottom line. Uncle Brian and Family
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Uncle Brian (that's me) meets with each Client to chat about their project. We come up with a Plan of Action / a tentative time frame and Overall Budget. We talk about the Design / Material selection and the Sequence of Events on larger projects. I usually discuss our responsibilities as well as the responsibilities of our client. I will let my new customer know if their Design is one I can manage well. If I have suggestions - I will give my input early on. My suggestions are always intended to give my client another perspective - many are adopted, some not. Once I've offered my 2 cents, I let the client lead the way. I let my customer know when they can expect their project to start and conclude and about any particulars that are important for them to know. We do our best to keep clients informed about any surprises during the process and keep them updated on the progress of their project. When a client is traveling - we text or email pictures to keep the customer informed of progress and any issues we're currently dealing with. Rodent infestation and Mold caused by leaks is 2 common scenarios, when these are encountered - we deal with the issue quickly and effectively without any large expenditures or wasted time. Basically, we don't take advantage of our clients and treat them the way we would want to be treated - Fairly and with Respect. Uncle Brian and Company
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I've been Remodeling for 40 years - some of my Friends call me "the Interrogator". They do this because I ask alot of questions - I do this because I talk to lots of people who have problems that need solving. It is important to me to get the correct answers for my clients as relates to their home and remodeling concerns. Formally, I've taken a few classes over the decades to educate myself in asbestos and lead paint abatement. Informally, I've run thousands of remodeling projects and am rated an A+ with the BBB. I appreciate our customers trust and realize they have many other choices - so I seek to make each one know they made the Right Choice. UB
