Introduction: We hope for current and future pet owners and fellow trainers to remember this: when we fully comprehend that pets are NOT furry creatures with a conscience or the ability to repent for their mistakes, but animals gifted to us ‘tabula rasa’ to teach them how to channel their instincts, energies, intentions, and eccentric personalities, we will be one step closer to a peaceful coexistence; especially if they learn in a way that is beneficial to theirs needs as much as ours. We will be two steps closer to truly listening to what they need from us: guidance on healthy coping skills and decision making. Only then will we have the courage and wisdom to open our eyes, ears, and hearts to the basic principles and the power of positive reinforcement training: community and communication. When we step outside ourselves to achieve this level of humility, wisdom, and mutual understanding, we are three steps closer to building them a better future, as individuals and as contributing members of the animal welfare community. With all of that said, our mission here at Empire City Paws is to educate up to 1000 New York pet parents about R+ training and socialization so that thousands of canine and feline New Yorkers have a healthy home environment & lifestyle, rather than a shelter stay.
