Introduction: I am a skilled photographer who is equally adept at taking portrait and event photography. I like to think that my photos do justice to their subjects while always remaining true to my stylistic point of view. When taking photos of people, I really like to get to know the person so I can capture each individual's personality. I enjoy working with kids and as a resident preschool photographer I have taken hundreds of children's photos. I also enjoy capturing the beauty in everyday events and scenes, and have a special fondness for setting up surreal photo shoots.

I needed a professional photo for work and I am, to put it nicely, not the easiest person to photograph. I get *incredibly* anxious and can't get comfortable enough to get a halfway decent picture. But, gotta say, Brian's has a serious knack for getting shots I didn't even think were possible. A++

I hired Brian to take some family portraits and was very impressed! Not only did he spend the time to get to know all of my family but he was amazing with my two year old nephew. Not every photographer will put stuffed animals on their heads and make funny noises to get a child to look at the camera. He was great to work with and the pictures came out amazing! I would definitely use him again!

Brian came with my family to a pumpkin farm to take photos of me, my husband, and our son who was about 22 months at the time. Not only did he take gorgeous photos, but he was a lot of fun to spend the day with as well. He's great with little kids and my son LOVED playing with Brian as he shot photos. Brian got a ton of laughs and smiles from him and they made great photos. Now that we've welcomed another son, we're looking forward to taking more family photos with Brian this summer.

FAQs

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I love talking with new clients to see where they are from and what they have been up to. I often have a client tell me a story while I'm shooting so that I can get them to relax. I also like to tell stories while I am shooting.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I went to Bradley University in Peoria IL and got my B.S. in Communications with a focus on Photography (see what I did there?). I then worked as an assistant to a professional architectural photographer in Chicago. In my free time I volunteered at a small magazine where I eventually became the Photography Director.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
I first start taking photos in high school for yearbook and I continued taking photos in college for different organizations. What I really enjoyed about taking photos was that with a camera I could show people an object that they had seen hundreds of times in a totally new and different way.
