Introduction: I love Yoga. And I love sharing the many gifts that Yoga has to offer. I take great pleasure in teaching students of all ages, backgrounds, and experience. Whether you come to Yoga primarily to gain flexibility & strength, to reduce stress & anxiety, to heal from injury, or all of the above - I am here to guide you along your path in a space that is refreshing, comfortable, peaceful and fun. I teach a well-rounded approach to the practice that draws equally on the Eight Limbs of Yoga. I guide students through a slow flow to highlight breath awareness, intelligent alignment, and stillness of mind. I incorporate Restorative postures, Pranayama (breath exercises), and techniques of Meditation into my classes. Every student has a unique path, and I shape our classes based on what resonates best for you. I have lovingly practiced Yoga for over 10-years, in the lineage of the great Yogi T. Krishnamachayra. I am a certified 200-hr Yoga Instructor from Yogaworks in New York. I currently study Meditation with Yogiraj Alan Finger, Raja Yoga with Marco Rojas, and Hatha & Restorative Yoga with Heather Seagraves. Additionally, I have completed a Special Program in Ayurvedic Dietetics, Herbs and Massage at the Chakrapani Ayurveda Clinic & Research Institute in Jaipur, India. I draw upon this training in Ayurvedic medicine, to provide insight on diet and lifestyle that support holistic living. A lifelong singer and musician, I conduct regular Sound Baths for group meditation as well as for private sessions. Exploring the healing power of harmony and vibration is a true joy for me, and I bring in this perspective into my classes as well. I feel blessed to have been introduced to Yoga in 2007, while seeking to recover from debilitating lower back pain. The practice not only helped me heal from that injury, but also renew my entire relationship of body, spirit, and mind. I share with my students how an earnest practice of Yoga leads to physical and mental wellbeing, but also beyond - to a deep sense of inner peace.

I have been working with Ian regularly for both hatha yoga and meditation for about 5 years now, and his approach is a perfect blend of careful, thorough guidance with thoughtful observation and feedback. His curriculum has been completely personalized to fit my needs, and I have appreciated the way it flows and adapts based on a keen attention to things like diet, season, and my own life experience. Studying with Ian is a pleasure! He is very clear and soothing, and he presented the directions with a good understanding of the interplay of physical, mental, and emotional. I think his background as a musician also really helps as he is really able to tap into flow and vibrations, as well as describing abstract things in helpful metaphors.

Ian is an amazing yoga and meditation instructor! He has trained with incredible teachers and is able to translate the practices into tangible and life-changing instructions. I have personally benefitted enormously from his teachings. I would highly recommend Ian to both people who are interested in beginning a yoga or meditation practice as well as to intermediate and advanced practitioners looking to deepen their experience.   • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

    First session with new students are half priced! My pricing and fees vary depending on the specific type of instruction one is seeking. I offer special discounts for small private group sessions (2-4), as well as class packages. Contact with me to talk about rates!

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

    We sit and have a relaxed conversation about your relationship to Yoga, Meditation and other Mindfulness practices. We discuss any health concerns or present injury, and after gaining a sense of what you would like from the practice - we dive in!

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

    After having practiced Yoga on a personal level for many years, I learned of my mother's diagnoses with an early stage of cancer. In seeking a deeper understanding of holistic methods to address her illness, I began studying more seriously how Yoga, Meditation, and Ayurveda (traditional Indian medicine) could be of benefit. Since then, I have continued to explore how I can best share the many gifts of Yoga to others seeking balance, good health, and the joys of inner peace.
