FAQs
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
1. The Consult: Like every kick-ass team, we gotta make sure we are a good match! After the initial inquiry, we will set up a phone call or Skype session (or in person meeting if you live in the Buffalo, NY area). I’ll ask you some questions regarding your business, vision and goals for your website and you’ll get the chance to ask me any questions and pick my brain about the project. 2. Booking: If we hit it off and find that we’re an awesome fit, I’ll put together the contract & invoice for our project together and send it your way. If everything prepared is good to go, you can sign the contract online and pay the required down payment. (Typically the down payment is 1/2 or 1/3 of the project price. If the project is small, the entire payment may be due up front) 3. Litttttle Bit of Homework, for you! In order for me to get started, depending on the project, I’ll need you to get some things together for me. This can include files, images, content, login account info, etc. 4. Depends on Your Package 🙂 The fourth step usually depends on the package of your choosing. Full website design packages will include a PDF mockup of the homepage (+ 2-3 other pages), changes & variation phase, final design approval, website coding & development phase, testing, launching, and email support!
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
How Did I Start Web Designing? Honestly, MySpace. I taught myself HTML and CSS to help customize my MySpace profile back when I was around 14 years old. When it came to coding, something just…clicked. I would help my friends tweak their profiles & edit their pictures; it was totally my thing. The whole “Mariah Magazine” name actually came from MySpace. It flows a whole lot easier than my actual last name so people started sticking to that one instead. College/Degree? I tried out college for 4 years. Bounced between 6 different majors & racked up enough credits to choke a horse, but nothing correlated into a single degree. College taught me everything I didn’t wanna do and it actually pushed me right back to where I started, website customization. I’m a hands on learner & I learn quicker through experience. Most of my skills and expertise were gained through curiosity, research, self-teaching & internships.
