Introduction: Boston Portrait Shop is a small photography venture studio founded and managed by Edward and Jia. A common passion and extensive training in photography brought this brother and sister together which culminated into an online portrait shop based in Boston and New York City.
We provide affordable portrait services specifically catered to your personal needs in both digital and medium-format film. We are extremely selective in the quality of our work and strive to deliver a professional-grade portrait service without breaking your bank.
One of main reasons we do photography is the opportunity to interact with our clients. We like to set up a meeting before the actual photoshoot to discuss about clients' preference and taste. We will brainstorm about strategies to get great images. After our initial meeting, we will visit the site of photoshoot in advance to get the creative juice flowing. During this time, we take sample pictures and send them to clients. We like to keep an active dialog with our clients until the day of shoot.
We normally aim to have our photoshoot for 1.5 to 2 hours. This is the moment when you become the main focus of our work. Our primary goal is to make you look stunning. The photoshoot session is relaxed, collaborative, and fun. Don't worry if you don't have much experience with photoshoots. We'll guide you through each step of the session!
After the photoshoot, photos are post-processed with Photoshop and other necessary softwares. Our shop is also equipped with pro quality photo-printers. We provide affordable photo printing and framing services.
Everyone sees the world through a different lens. Our utmost attraction in photography comes from the fact that a camera gives us the ability to either enhance or completely change the way people perceive. In our work, the ultimate say, of course, comes from our clients. The most exciting part of our work involves a conversation/interaction we have with our clients before and during the shoot.
Through photography, we help our clients to freeze the time, frame that notable moment, and tell that special story for generations to come. Our clients provide us with a subject, and we help to tell a story. We thoroughly enjoy the process of creating those stories and help delivering them.

My wife and I searched for many weeks for a photographer with good experience, professional service, and with whom we felt comfortable. We could not have found anyone better than Boston Portrait Shop. The photographer was very professional, patient, and courteous. As we prepared to take our photographs, he even took the time to explain in detail how he would like for us to pose and where to stand to make the best use of the ambient lighting and ensure the best quality for the photographs. He took numerous pictures using separate cameras, and even had instruments to measure the lighting throughout the session. After a few trial photographs, he efficiently took numerous pictures in a time span of one hour. What my wife and I found even more impressive was that the previous day, the photographer had taken the time to visit the area where we planned to take pictures so that he could survey the light and surrounding environment. What service and attention! We are still collecting pictures from our wedding, and we are very happy with the quality of the pictures. Although we only took pictures for one hour, we have enough to fill a small album.
In addition the great quality and service, the pricing is very fair and competitive with other professional photographers that will charge an arm and a leg for wedding pictures. Anyone who is making wedding arrangements is aware of how expensive this process can be - the pricing offered by Boston Portrait Shop was such a breath of fresh air!
Lastly, I have been able to use the pictures taken for the wedding for professional purposes. Recently I joined a new office at my place of employment and I was asked to provide a short personal bio and photograph. Thus, I used two of my pictures taken by Boston Portrait Shop for this purpose too, and have received many compliments for these pictures in the office.
Overall, I give Boston Portrait Shop the highest rating. I will not hesitate to contact this company again for future events, and encourage anyone to contact Boston Portrait Shop for exceptional and outstanding service!

Ed shot our engagement photos in Boston. It was super easy to set up a date with him. He was very professional but still helped us loosen up from the awkwardness of having someone follow us around the city with a camera. He was amazing at finding/using natural light. The turnaround time was so fast and our pictures came out great! Even just the raw proofs without any editing looked great because of his use of natural light. We couldn't have wished for better photos and the price was extremely reasonable for all that you get. I will admit I was starting to get a little chilly towards the end of the shoot and I feel like you can tell in some of the photos, but it was early spring in Boston so not really a surprise.

Edward did our wedding shoot at the city hall last February, and it was a very pleasant experience. Edward is polite and easy to talk to. He was also very professional and made our day special. He is an attentive listener and very creative! He even went to the location of the proposed photoshoot the day before. That made the photoshoot more fun. Work with this guy, and youll have a great experience!
