Introduction: Helping You Discover The Silver Lining. Founder of Silver Lining Coaching and talented photographer, Dr. Gerald Mulvaney, sees life in pictures. Waiting at a stoplight one overcast afternoon, Dr. Mulvaney took a picture of a cloud with silver lining. When looking back at the picture from a slightly different angle, he recognized a man’s face shaped in the clouds. This astounding discovery revealed the profound secret of living a happy life: Looking for the silver lining in everyone, everything, and every experience, empowers you to recognize the hidden beauty, significance, and miracles of life. It is human tendency to wait for a better life but often times it takes a shift in perspective to recognize the answers are right in front of you- you just have to take the first step. Silver Lining Coaching, named for this unexpected miracle, aims to shift your perspective, refreshing the lens through which you look at life. SLC’s strategy will help you rediscover a lens that focuses on hidden beauty and wisdom, even in the cloudiest of times while empowering clients to take back control of life and happiness. Photographer. Musician. Dr. Mulvaney founded Silver Lining Coaching in 2016 in response to his longtime calling and passion for inspiring others to become their best-self. A practicing OB/GY/ N and infertility specialist, he recognized more and more that connecting with patients fueled his love for medicine. Yet, with a busy schedule Dr. Mulvaney, wanted more time to learn his patients stories and to have the thorough conversations that brought purpose to his life’s work as a healer. Many patients and colleagues alike credit his supportive and motivating advice as an essential (yet gentle) push on their journey towards life transformation. His passion for connection inspired him to add another tool to his doctor’s kit, life coaching. Silver Lining Coaching is the intersection of Dr. Mulvaney’s passions: people, medicine, and photography. He aims to harness his love for photography and medicine to speak to others, while empowering clients to take back control of life and happiness. He now integrates his skills as a life coach to strengthen patient-physician relationships, while using his wisdom as physician to enhance the life coaching experience. Coach and physician by day, and musician by night Dr. Mulvaney sings in a Reggae band, that shares the art of his native country Jamaica. Dr. Mulvaney has lived in North Carolina since 1982 where he started a private practice in Goldsboro NC. He relocated to Raleigh in 1985 after accepting a faculty position at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. In 1992, he and two colleagues began Triangle OB/GY/N (now merged to Triangle Physicians for Women) and NC Center for Reproductive Medicine, both of which are still blessing couples with the gift of life. Dr. Mulvaney enjoys getting and giving inspiration from his wife Wanda, daughters Lakevia, Shannon, and sons Graham and Jose. When not coaching doctoring or singing, you are sure to catch him with a camera in his hand.
