Introduction: I've always felt that mathematics - particularly calculus - should be a way to view and relate to the world around you and not just an exercise in frustration and rote learning. Throughout my teaching, I emphasize concepts and core ideas, and I encourage my students to approach problems asking "why," rather than "what."
Nearly every fiber of myself is involved in the teaching of mathematics. I graduated from the University of Wisconsin in Madison, with a major in pure mathematics as well as secondary education in mathematics. I currently teach full-time as an AP Calculus teacher in East Central MN, and I have been doing so for 5 years. I am fully dedicated to motivating the study of advanced mathematics and communicating the beautiful ideas contained therein.

If you are looking for a Calculus or Physics tutor Alex without a doubt is the person to use. I had been spending two hours a night with my daughter and she was meeting with her teacher before and after school to no avail. She was flunking AP Calculus and their was only 4 weeks left in the class. I hired Alex in panic mode. She had two unit exams and a final left to bring her grade up. In four short weeks Alex brought her grade up from an E to a C and she got a B on the final. There is no way my daughter would have passed the class if it had not been for Alex. Alex instilled her with the confidence that she could learn the material and would be successful. That she would be able to learn the Calculus and Physics that she needs to pursue
her goal of a career in Marine Biology. Alex has helped keep the dream alive in my daughter and I will forever be grateful for that. When I listened to Alex interact with my daughter during the sessions his love of teaching, genuine desire to help my daughter and ability to connect with her in a fun and productive way was way beyond any of the other tutors I have ever used.
As far as responsiveness, Alex rose to the challenge and juggled his schedule. He worked around my daughters cross country meet schedule and other commitments while also making sure he was able to meet with her the night before each exam to help her with final prep for them. He met with her two to three times a week when it worked for her to make sure she passed the class.
My daughter has dyslexia which creates unique challenges particularly in math. She tends to look at problems and get to solutions in different ways then most people would. Alex took the time to make sure he understood how my daughter was looking at problems and would adjust the way he approached the solution to match her problem solving style rather than trying to force her to solve the problem using the standard textbook solution guide. Alex made the sessions productive but also fun. I would hear them joke and make light of errors.
My daughter also used Alex the following term for her Honors Physics class with the same results. Alex took the time to drive to my daughters school to meet with her physics teacher. He reviewed the curriculum and her tests to see what areas my daughter was struggling with which helped him fine tune his tutoring time with my daughter.
