Bob Goins Classes On Clark
About this pro
I absolutely adore Bobby. I first worked with him in a group class and then for weekly private lessons for several years. I've learned so much about music theory, how to make a song your own, how to break down and reconstruct a song so that it works for me. Bobby is patient, funny, super smart and an all-around great teacher. He's always thinking about new directions we can go, most recently getting super deep into jazz standards. And as complex as we sometimes get, he's always willing to take it back to basics, and bang out some good old singing songs. He's awesome and he loves music like nothing else.Jun 9, 2017
Bob Goins is a first-rate guitar teacher. He is inspiring for all levels and ages. His classes/private lessons give students a thorough background in theory and knowledge of the fretboard, strumming and fingerstyle, as well as just having fun playing good music. Highly recommended!May 12, 2017
I just started taking private lessons with Bob two months ago. I've been playing casually for a few years and wanted to address some specific points to improve my playing. Bob has done a great job of tailoring our sessions to focus on those elements while still making sure I had my eye on the larger meaning of playing a song (hint: fun). He's also been able to take music theory in general and then boil it down to the skills we're working on, and in a way that I could readily apply. His passion and joy for the music (even my music) show through every time we sit down. It's been a great experience.May 17, 2017
I have been taking classes with Bob for several years now. I really enjoy his easy going and patient nature. He is very good at communicating musical concepts, especially about the CAGED system of guitar playing. I always look forward to my classes. A very fun learning experience.May 17, 2017

- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?$50/hr.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer? We'll discuss your music interests, knowledge, and experience, then begin building a strong foundation of essentials that will allow you to grow in any direction that beckons.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I began playing guitar in '78, performing live in '86, and teaching music professionally in '94. I qualify as being "self taught" I suppose, but there have been a lot of incidental but key teachers along the way. I've explored a ton of styles independently and with countless colleagues in Dayton, Cincinnati, and Chicago over the last 40 years....and more excited about it today than ever!
