FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I have a session fee for portrait sessions. Standard family sessions are $175. The price may vary slightly depending on location and time spent but most session will fall in this price range. Newborn sessions are $225 because they tend to be longer. The session fee does not include any digital image files or print products. Those are purchased separately at an in-person Ordering Session. Wedding Collections start at $3000. These can be customized to fit the needs of the the couple. All of my wedding Collections include the final, edited image files and some printed products for display.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Many of my inquiries for portrait work and weddings come first in the form of an email or thru the contact form on my website. I try to respond within 24 hours when possible; my preference is always to set up a phone call or an in-person consultation right away. I find this is the best way to share with potential clients how I work, what I do and what I offer. In person consultations are great because I can share actual product samples and, if in the client's home, I can often meet the family members and see potential places in the home where they might like to see images displayed. My business is full-service oriented--I spend a lot of time working closely with my clients to be sure we end up with amazing photography they love and will proudly display, cherish for years and pass down to their children. The final, edited images are shared in-person at a Viewing and Ordering Appointment. This can take place right in the comfort of your own home, at my home or at a studio depending on your preference. I have found it extremely helpful for clients to view their images with me so that we can decide together which photos best fit for their particular plans for display. Many clients struggle with imagining how their photos will look displayed. I have software that allows us to design displays together before deciding on what to purchase. We can even upload a photo of your room so that you can see the options on your wall before making any decisions.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I minored in Art in college and my concentration was in Photography. These were the days BEFORE digital cameras so I processed my own black and white film and printed my own photographs in the darkroom. I took five semesters of photography classes in college and took classes at the Museum of Fine Arts School in Boston as well as the New England School of Photography after graduating from college. Once opening my business about 9 years ago I joined the Professional Photographer's Association (PPA) and the Connecticut chapter (CTPPA) as well. I have attended dozens of workshops and seminars to continue to learn more about the technical craft of photography--lighting, posing, editing, and the 'art' of running a business as well.
