Introduction: After 19 years in education I believe that I have the necessary skills, experience and talent to be an asset to you, your family or any school or district. Currently, I am in my 19th year in Education and serve as 5th grade teacher in Canyons School District. Prior to working at Canyons, I was a coordinator for an Adult ESL refugee program. Additionally, I taught overseas and worked as the Language Acquisition Department Head at Wuxi-Taihu International School in Wuxi, China. Prior to moving to China, I had the role of ESL Assessment Teacher for Baltimore City Public Schools. For half the day, I provided ESOL instruction in grades K-8 at Thomas Johnson Elementary/Middle School. In the afternoons, I administered assessments for incoming students to Baltimore City Public Schools to determine eligibility for ESOL services. Before being an assessment teacher, I served as an ESOL Mentor Teacher for BCPS. I provided instructional support to other ESOL teachers while educating mainstream teachers and administrators on best practices and strategies to reach our ELL population. Before working with Baltimore City Public Schools, I was an elementary ESOL teacher in Prince George’s County Public Schools. Recently, I finished my second Master’s Degree from The George Washington University in Bilingual Special Education. My first Master’s Degree is from McDaniel College in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in TESOL. I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Findlay, in Findlay Ohio. Currently, I hold Colorado certifications in the areas of Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Education (K-12) and Elementary K-6. I also hold a Special Education Generalist certification (5-21). Beyond that, I have taught at the College level. At NOVA (Northern Virginia Community College), I taught an intense, 5 credit ESL writing class. In addition, I had the honor of teaching adult ESOL at PGCCC (Prince George’s County Community College). Finally, I served part-time as a Site Coordinator for an adult ESL program through CCBC (The Community College of Baltimore County). Finally, I currently read college application essays and help Chinese students applying to American Universities with the writing process. I truly enjoy taking students who are struggling and help them reach a point where they are capable of independent success in various content areas.
